Brief Job DescriptionThe Logistics Specialist will support our imports and provide overall support by identifying and implementing procedures to better optimize the overall efficiency of supply chain and logistics activities.
Perform tasks that relate to the strategic and tactical management of carrier performance to include request for quotes, on-time delivery, on-time pick-up, Provide support to internal customers including but not limited to Operations, Sales, Procurement, and end customers.
Communicate Key Performance Indicators to measure overall logistics performance and process compliance.ResponsibilitiesEngage in programs to including but not limited to on-boarding carriers, monitoring compliance, providing tracking, and expediting assistance, training, and carrier engagement as it relates to all modes of transportation.
Support Inbound and Outbound Routing Guides covering both domestic and international shipping activity and provide training on shipping processes as it relates to the Transportation Management System, freight quoting and pricing.Work cross-functionally with procurement and purchasing team to on-board suppliers according company routing guide, provide training, monitoring compliance, tracking, expedite assistance for all modes of transportation.Closely communicate with plant operations, Buyers, Suppliers, and Carriers to provide instruction, manage expedite requests, and problem solving.Drive operational excellence, identify and execute process improvement projects to reduce costs, improvement quality,
service and increasing speed.Collaborate with integral logistics teams in other regions, research and implement best practices across the logistics network and programsMay assist with customer order quotations for freights estimatesProvide back-up support in the Logistics Department as neededRequirementsBachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or other appropriate discipline1+ year of experienceExperience in logistics, supply chain management or related disciplineExperience in a strategic setting in a large manufacturing organizationAbility to travel, as requestedPreferred QualificationsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalExcellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skillsAbility to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environmentProficient in MS OfficeExperience and knowledge in international trade and transportation preferredAbility to use a personal computer and job-related softwareExcellent customer service skillsAbility to coordinate efforts from multiple groups in the company to achieve objectives.Ability to identify process deficiencies, develop and implement improvementsAbility to efficiently work in a team setting or cross-functionallyEducation And CertificationsBachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or other appropriate disciplineInstitute for Supply Management (ISM), American Production & Inventory Control Society (APICS) or Supply Chain certification preferred.Physical RequirementsNo Special Physical RequirementsEnvironmental DemandsN/ATravel Time RequiredUp to 10%#J-*****-Ljbffr
