**About RVMC**In ****, the World Economic Forum (WEF), the US National Academies of Medicine (NAM), and the Coalition of Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) joined forces to launch RVMC, with the backing of a diverse coalition of partners.After a successful incubation period at the World Economic Forum, the RVMC Secretariat is now hosted by CEPI.Our vision is a world where vaccine equity and health security are created for countries in all regions of the world.We aim to achieve this vision through the establishment of regional vaccine manufacturing and supply chain networks capable of producing vaccines for routine use in a sustainable manner, with readiness for outbreak manufacturing.RVMC has developed a comprehensive framework covering three critical areas: finance and demand, regulatory and governance, technology and supply.This holistic approach ensures that we address all aspects of the industry, from production and distribution to market needs and regulatory compliance.RVMC aims to create value by advocating for regionalized manufacturing, aligning key initiatives, providing independent and trusted advice, and accounting for integral progress across the RVMC Framework (4As strategy).
Countries and regions are calling for and taking actions to diversify vaccine manufacturing and supply chains; For example, PAHO's strategy aims to strengthen local manufacturing capacities to improve equitable access to vaccines by fostering collaboration with regional manufacturers and stakeholders, building mRNA vaccine ecosystems in Argentina and Brazil, and enhancing regulatory bodies.The second phase of RVMC will provide bespoke support for regional leadership to establish economically sustainable vaccine manufacturing networks for both routine and future emergency response vaccine needs.
**About the role**The RVMC 2.0 Market Strategy Technical Lead will play a crucial role in contributing to the realization of RVMC 2.0's mission of promoting the establishment of regional vaccine manufacturing and supply chain networks to ensure equitable access to vaccines for all affected populations, with the focus being on Africa.
**This will be a Fixed Term Contract until 31 Dec ****.
****Responsibilities**- Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses of the region's vaccine markets and recommend 'demand-side' financing models and interventions suited to the regionalised vaccine manufacturing objectives in the African context.
- Work closely and proactively develop and manage relationships with key partners to support the development of the Africa vaccine manufacturing industry and in coordination with the Africa CDC as a key partner,
the AU Member States, and international organisations and partners.
- To develop recommendations to implement strategies that promote the geo-diversified vaccine manufacturing efforts and related pooled procurement mechanisms.
- Engage RVMC's approaches in advocacy and aligning partners to optimise adoption of innovative financing tools, including increasing domestic health spending amongst AU member states.
- Facilitate relevant partnerships across public, private, and philanthropic sectors to mobilize resources for vaccine demand.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of demand-side financing interventions on vaccine uptake and equity.
- Cultivate relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including health agencies (e.g. Africa CDC), regional and global organisation (e.g. African Union, CHAI), NGOs, and private sector partners, to drive market-shaping initiatives.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of market-shaping projects to ensure they meet objectives and deadlines.
- Identify and develop solutions to address barriers to market entry and growth, such as regulatory challenges or supply chain issues.
- Develop and promote sustainable solutions that enhance market efficiency and effectiveness.
- Any other duties as required.
**Education, Experience and Competence**- Master's degree in a relevant field such as Pharmacy, Biological Sciences, Public Health, Economics, Business Management or a related field and at least 7 years of experience in a related field; OR Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Pharmacy, Biological Sciences, Public Health, Economics, Business Management or a related field and at least 10 years of experience in a relate
