As a Dispersion Science Laboratory Manager you will lead the global dispersion science strategy for assigned technologies. Ensure the development, validation, optimization, and worldwide implementation of standard formulations through advanced expertise in pigment dispersion, colorimetry, rheology, and manufacturing processes. Improve innovation, operational efficiency across the organization.

You will report to Global Dispersion & Color Sc Dir.

Key Responsibilities

- Ensure all global dispersion protocols are used for all formulas developed at your Dispersion Science Lab (DSL) and Dispersion Science Support sites.
- Set all global OEM specifications, shelf life, storage and handling conditions for dispersed intermediate technologies assigned to their Center of Excellence.
- Responsible for formula filing and full use of first lot control for all technologies assigned to their Center of Excellence.
- Use global priority planning matrix to manage backlog of dispersion requests for formula cost reduction, new color development, technical and operations support.
- Grow and transfer technology specific Formulators Manuals and DFMEA documents to Global Process Management.
- Primary technical contact for technology transfers initiated by Integral Process Management.
- Develop and deploy technology specific dispersion science training content for global OEM associates.
- Identify capital needs to appropriate technical and operations management to keep DSL's and production sites aligned with Dispersion Science Strategy.




- Frequent overlap with operations management to ensure proactive implementation of OEM Dispersion Science Strategies.
- Review, approves or rejects process change requests for all technologies assigned to their Center of Excellence.
- Work with local Operations and Dispersion Science Support colleagues to use sub-standard raw materials during material shortage or shutdown situations and recover SSPL.
- Support global consolidation and ensure non-proliferation of tint pastes for your assigned technologies through active participation in OEM pigment strategy and Color Formulation Design Requirement meetings.
- Manage exempt chemists and engineers and non-exempt laboratory technicians and contract workers over multiple shifts.
- Functional oversight for all Dispersion Science Support associates.

Qualifications

- Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the coatings industry, including at least 5 years in the development or manufacturing of dispersions and 3 years leading technical or operations teams.
- Demonstrated use of Sigma Logic Tools or ability to obtain them within first six months on the job.
- Basic knowledge of pigments, dispersion, coatings formulation and color science along with familiarity of lab- and production-scale dispersion processing equipment.




- We prefer waterborne coating formulation or production experience.
- The DSL Manager initially will travel within region or internationally up to 30%.
- Fluent English.
