International Purchasing and Import Specialist

At Cuby Smart , we design and manufacture IoT devices for energy efficiency and automation.

We are looking for an organized, responsible, and detail-oriented International Purchasing and Import Specialist to coordinate international purchasing, import operations, and customs compliance.

The idóneo candidate has experience working with international suppliers, strong knowledge of Mexican import regulations, and the ability to identify documentation risks and inconsistencies before an operation moves forward.

Key Responsibilities

Research, evaluate, and request quotations from domestic and international suppliers.

Communicate and follow up with suppliers in China, the United States, and other countries.

Compare prices, commercial terms, lead times, logistics costs, import duties, and other import-related expenses.

Coordinate purchase orders, invoices, payments, production lead times, shipments, and deliveries.

Track import operations from purchase order placement through final delivery.

Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, courier companies, carriers, and Mexican customs brokers.

Review commercial invoices, packing lists, contracts, payment confirmations, tracking numbers, and shipping documentation.

Review customs entries (pedimentos), declarations of value, NOM exemption letters, and other supporting documents.

Verify compliance with Mexican Customs Law, the General Foreign Trade Rules (RGCE), NOMs, and other applicable import requirements.

Support tariff classification reviews and identify applicable duties, restrictions, NOMs, and documentation requirements.

Identify missing documents, errors, risks,



and inconsistencies before approving or continuing an operation.

Maintain complete and organized purchasing and import records.

Prepare and update reports for purchase orders, shipments, delivery dates, costs, and customs operations.

Coordinate activities with the Engineering, Production, Warehouse, and Administration teams.

Support supplier performance evaluations and the search for alternative sources of supply.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, International Business, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience in international purchasing, imports, logistics, customs, or foreign trade.

Experience working with international suppliers.

Experience coordinating import operations with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and carriers.

Strong knowledge of Mexican Customs Law and the General Foreign Trade Rules (RGCE).

Experience reviewing customs entries, commercial invoices, packing lists, declarations of value, and other foreign trade documentation.

Advanced English proficiency, both written and spoken.

Intermediate or advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.

Ability to manage multiple purchase orders, shipments, and import operations simultaneously.





Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Sound judgment when identifying documentation errors and operational risks.

Clear and effective communication with suppliers, service providers, and internal teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with suppliers in China and the United States.

Knowledge of tariff classification and tariff codes.

Familiarity with NOMs and non-tariff regulations and restrictions.

Familiarity with Incoterms.

Knowledge of import costs and landed-cost calculations.

Experience coordinating air, ocean, and ground transportation.

Experience purchasing or importing electronic components, manufacturing materials, or technology products.

Experience using ERP, purchasing, inventory, or logistics management systems.

Familiarity with Annex 24 of the RGCE and inventory control requirements for foreign trade operations is a plus.
