About the Position: The Field Technician II is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance activities on utility-scale renewable energy assets, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. Reporting to the O&M; Manager, this role supports the maintenance and optimization of photovoltaic plants by troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, assisting with commissioning activities, collaborating with contractors and cross-functional teams, and contributing to continuous improvements in asset performance and operational reliability.
Responsibilities: Preventive & Corrective Maintenance – Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on photovoltaic plants and associated electrical equipment, ensuring asset reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance with maintenance schedules.
Troubleshooting & Technical Support – Diagnoses and resolves electrical, mechanical, and communication system issues involving PV arrays, inverters, transformers, switchgear, breakers, SCADA systems, protection systems, and auxiliary equipment to minimize downtime and maximize plant availability.
Plant Operations & Performance Monitoring – Monitors equipment performance, identifies operational risks, recommends corrective actions,
and supports initiatives that improve plant reliability, availability, and energy production.
Commissioning & Technical Documentation – Supports commissioning activities, functional testing, equipment inspections, and the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintenance documentation, and technical records to ensure operational consistency and knowledge sharing.
Collaboration & Teamwork – Works closely with Field Technicians, contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams to support maintenance activities, equipment reliability initiatives, and continuous operational improvements.
Safety & Compliance – Performs all work in accordance with company policies, HSE requirements, electrical safety standards, and regulatory requirements while promoting a strong culture of safety and operational excellence.
Continuous Improvement – Identifies opportunities to improve maintenance processes, operational procedures, and equipment performance through proactive recommendations and technical problem-solving.
Additional Responsibilities – Supports emergency maintenance activities, special projects, and performs other duties as assigned to meet operational and business objectives.
Qualifications & Experience:
Technical diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering,
Electromechanics, Renewable Energy, or a related technical discipline.
Minimum 2–4 years of hands-on experience in Operations & Maintenance or field service within the renewable energy or power generation industry.
Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance on utility-scale photovoltaic plants and associated electrical infrastructure.
Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting medium- and high-voltage electrical equipment.
Strong troubleshooting skills involving electrical, mechanical, and plant communication systems.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, technical manuals, and equipment specifications.
Knowledge of commissioning activities, maintenance planning, equipment inspections, and operational documentation.
Basic knowledge of industrial communication systems, networking, and SCADA platforms is considered an asset.
Understanding of HSE requirements and safe work practices within industrial or renewable energy environments. Skills:
Strong analytical, technical problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Professional proficiency in Spanish is required.
Basic
English proficiency is considered an asset.
Additional
Requirements
Availability to travel frequently within Mexico and occasionally to other locations based on business needs.
Availability to respond to emergency maintenance activities outside regular working hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call situations when required.
Valid driver's license.
