About the role: We are seeking a Mid-Level Freight Forwarding Operations Specialist to join our Mexico City team. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end import and export operations across ocean, air, and ground/customs brokerage shipments, ensuring smooth coordination between clients, carriers, customs agents, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and coordinate ocean, air, and ground freight shipments for both import and export operations, from booking through final delivery.
- Prepare, review, and process shipping documentation (bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, etc.) ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate with customs brokers (agentes aduanales) to ensure timely and compliant customs clearance for imports and exports.
- Track shipments and proactively communicate status updates, delays, or issues to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Liaise with carriers, agents, and overseas partners to negotiate rates, space, and transit times.
- Maintain accurate shipment records and data in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Ensure compliance with Mexican customs regulations, international trade laws, and company SOPs.




- Resolve operational discrepancies (documentation errors, customs holds, delivery issues) quickly and effectively.
- Support billing/invoicing processes by ensuring accurate cost capture and timely handoff to finance.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, vendors, and customs authorities.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce transit/customs delays.

Requirements

- Minimum 3 years of experience in freight forwarding operations (ocean, air, and ground/customs brokerage).
- Solid understanding of Mexican import/export customs processes and documentation requirements.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (preferred).
- Intermediate English proficiency (written and spoken) for communication with international partners/clients.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented with strong accuracy in documentation and data entry.
- Effective communicator, comfortable coordinating across clients, carriers, and customs brokers.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Availability to work fully on-site in Mexico City.
- Familiarity with INCOTERMS and international trade compliance standards.
- Prior experience working directly with agentes aduanales or customs brokerage operations.
- Experience supporting both import and export flows within the same portfolio.
- Competitive salary: MXN $20,000 – $25,000/month (gross), based on experience.
