Job summary
- Plans, schedules, and conducts or coordinates HSE training and Orientation for employees including “STOP” principles, Lock Out Tag Out, confined Space, Proper ventilation, SDS awareness, Lifting techniques, Radiation Safety, Rigging, Boom Lift, Overhead Crane, Forklift, etc. - Leads and/or participates in safety meetings with emphasis on employee participation (such as safety audits). - Assist with Accident Investigations - Maintains & documents program to cover material handling devices, cranes, forklifts, belts, slings, ladders, etc. - Maintains program for storage, classification, and identification (SDS) for files of hazardous chemicals, liquids, and solids used in the manufacturing environment. - Maintains safety program for shop equipment and tool safeguards such as shields, guards, barriers, alarms, and safe operating conditions of each - Maintains storage program for welding gases, tanks, bottles, etc. - Maintains program for the proper use and wear of personal protective equipment (PPE) - Maintains program for sprinkler system and proper use and storage of fire extinguishers - Maintains program for water safety; potable and wastewater.
- Perform audits of safe work practices and recommend corrective action - Maintain fork-lift safety training logs, and test operator driving ability - Vehicles: inspection of vehicles and logs, for OTR vehicles and fork-lifts: inspect vehicle safety equipment, etc. - Write new Employee policies, train and maintain employee safety training logs - This role will be responsible for the implementation of ISO 45001
**Profile**:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering, Science or related field - Minimum of 3 years of Safety, Environmental, Engineering or related experience in a manufacturing environment - Knowledge of ISO 45001 - Knowledge of ISO 14001 - Strong understanding of federal, state, provincial and local regulations and requirements - Willingness to work on any shift and additional hours as required - Effective verbal and written communication skills - Strong leadership, analytical and problem solving skills - Exceptional organizational skills - Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite and/or other software
