Role Description The Technical Buyer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Mexico City Metropolitan Area. This role is responsible for managing the end-to-end purchasing process for technical materials, components, and services, ensuring timely and cost-effective supply. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and issuing purchase orders, coordinating with internal stakeholders to define specifications, and maintaining accurate purchasing records.
The Technical
Buyer evaluates and selects suppliers, negotiates commercial and contractual terms, monitors supplier performance, and proactively resolves delivery or quality issues. This position also supports continuous improvement in procurement processes and contributes to achieving cost, quality, and sustainability goals. Responsabilities.
Participate in the development of strategic suppliers to ensure a high-value relationship for the business in the medium and long term; and seek out new strategies and projects that contribute to the continuous improvement of the procurement process.
Conduct negotiations with suppliers, focusing on price, commercial terms, and service levels,
with the goal of securing business partners who meet the company’s specifications and standards, as well as ensuring optimal profitability for the company.
Proactively communicate with suppliers (send orders/forecasts) so they can prepare inventory; and monitor the delivery schedule for purchase orders, confirm logistics, and ensure that the supplier can deliver on time.
Monitor inventories of critical spare parts and supplies necessary to ensure the plant maintains established maximum and minimum levels, as well as maintain physical custody of the inventories.
Integrate databases of current prices corresponding to negotiations by supplier, material, or service, using specific schemes required to ensure compliance with Grupo Zapata’s specifications and quality standards. Qualifications
Strong skills in Purchasing Negotiation and Contract Negotiation to secure favorable terms and conditions.
Experience managing Purchasing Processes and Purchase Orders, including documentation, approvals, and tracking.
Ability to perform Supplier Evaluation, including assessing quality, reliability, cost, and compliance.
Background in technical purchasing within manufacturing, packaging, or related industrial environments.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial, Mechanical, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Proficiency with ERP or procurement systems and strong Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building abilities.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work on-site in the Mexico City Metropolitan Area and collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
