Main Responsibility:
The Laboratory Leader will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the research and development (R&D;) laboratory for the design, testing, and optimization of projects and engineering changes. This role requires a strategic approach to managing projects and ensuring the quality and functionality of developed prototypes, with a focus on testing electrical and mechanical components in compliance with UL and CSA standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Plan, coordinate, and oversee R&D; projects, from conceptualization to prototype validation, meeting established deadlines and budgets.- Testing and Validation: Design and execute testing protocols to evaluate the performance, durability, and safety of electrical and mechanical components, ensuring compliance with UL, CSA, ISO, and CE standards.- Technical Improvements: Propose and develop enhancements to designs, focusing on efficiency and sustainability.- Resource Management: Manage laboratory resources, including equipment, materials, optimizing their use.- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work with production, quality, and commercial teams to ensure the feasibility of designs and their transition to manufacturing.- Documentation: Generate detailed technical reports on test results and project progress.
Education & Experience:
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related field.- Minimum of 4 years in leadership roles in R&D; laboratories, preferably in projects or engineering changes.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Knowledge of complete electrical systems.-
- Experience in performance, durability, safety, and life testing of electrical and mechanical components.- Familiarity with UL, CSA, ISO,
and CE standards.- Project management and complex problem-solving.- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.- Ability to work independently and under pressure.- Advanced English (required for technical communication and review of standards).
