Who will you be working with?
As a Traffic Coordinator, you will collaborate with the Materials, Customs, Finance team, and Brokers. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all materials arriving at the borders are not delayed due to paperwork issues. Additionally, you will support internal customers by providing updates on the status of materials at the border and supplying necessary information to the Customs and Finance teams. You will also be responsible for creating a tax and customs budget and tracking all expenses to stay within this budget.
As a member of the Field Services Americas team, you will be responsible for helping our customer (Ferromex) maintain their fleet of Wabtec locomotives by providing sourcing, negotiating, and procuring a wide range of indirect goods and services to support the overall business operations. You will be part of a team made up of Wabtec materials experts, all working to ensure our customer’s service levels
How will you make a difference?
As a Traffic Coordinator, you will oversee the coordination of importing and exporting materials once they arrive at the border. By ensuring the correct paperwork is in place, you will facilitate the swift movement of materials across the border, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
You will manage all relevant information to minimize tax payments and ensure compliance working with the Customs Team.
Additionally, in this role you are going to work closely with internal stakeholders to understand their needs, identify suitable suppliers, and manage the procurement process to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective solutions. The Indirect Buyer plays a crucial role in maintaining efficient and cost-effective supply chains for non-production-related items, such as office supplies, IT equipment, facilities management services, and other indirect materials and services for Ferromex sites (Torreon & Guadalajara). By leveraging their expertise in strategic sourcing, contract management, and supplier relationship management, the Indirect Buyer helps the organization optimize its indirect spending and drive continuous improvements in the procurement function.
What do we want to know about you?
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience working on Customs import / export procedures and purchasing and procurement.
- Have in-depth knowledge of tariffs, restrictions, trade agreements, customs laws, and regulations in force in the countries where the company operates.
- Knowledge of international trade and transport
- Demonstrate the ability to correctly classify goods using the Harmonized System (HS Code), which is crucial for customs declarations and tax calculations.
- You are expected to handle all essential documents such as commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, health certificates, customs clearance documents, and shipping documents (BL, AWB, CMR).
- You must have experience managing different types of traffic (land, sea, and air) and be familiar with the specific processes of each.
- Managing complex situations, such as resolving audits or correcting errors in documentation
- Decision-making skills to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions in a complex and changing environment.
- Strong accounting and system knowledge with process management experience
- Always assuring a safety environment following internal procedures and controls
- Advanced level of communication in English
- Ability to leverage cross functional relationships to solve problems
- Established analytical and project management ability with a simplification / automation / digitization mindset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Prior business ORACLE ERP experience
