The HIL Test Engineer is responsible for designing, executing, and maintaining Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test systems to validate embedded control systems, primarily in automotive, aerospace, or industrial applications. This role ensures that software and hardware components function correctly under simulated real-world conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, configure, and maintain HIL test benches and simulation environments
Design and execute test cases for embedded systems and control algorithms
Integrate real-time simulation models (e.g., plant models) into HIL systems
Automate test scripts using tools such as Python, MATLAB/Simulink, or CAPL
Perform validation of ECUs (Electronic Control Units) under various operating scenarios
Analyze test results, identify defects, and support root cause analysis
Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems engineering teams




Ensure compliance with industry standards and functional safety requirements (e.g., ISO 26262)
Maintain documentation for test procedures, results, and system configurations
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related field
Experience with HIL systems (e.g., dSPACE, NI, Vector tools)
Strong knowledge of embedded systems and real-time control
Familiarity with communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, FlexRay)
Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and model-based development
Programming/scripting skills (Python, C, CAPL, or similar)
Understanding of automotive systems (powertrain, ADAS, body controls, etc
