Natural Habitat Adventures is actively hiring experienced Expedition Leaders for upcoming opportunities guiding our Kingdom of the Monarchs Nature Journeys beginning in December 2026.

Our Expedition Leaders are among the best in the business. They are highly educated naturalists and experienced guides who are deeply passionate about conservation and the wild places they share with our guests. Through engaging interpretation, thoughtful storytelling and attentive, personalized service, they deliver safe, exceptional small-group guest experiences while connecting travelers with nature, culture and conservation, fostering curiosity, respect and stewardship.

Drawing on their expertise in natural history and environmental education, they help guests deepen their understanding of wildlife, ecosystems, conservation successes and ongoing challenges. Their unique blend of scientific knowledge, professional guiding expertise and outstanding guest service is what sets Nat Hab apart in nature-focused adventure travel.

To support local communities and provide guests with a more authentic local experience, we prioritize hiring Field Team members who live in the regions where we operate. Only applicants currently residing in Mexico and legally authorized to work in Mexico will be considered. Preference will be given to applicants residing in or near Mexico City.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Interpretation & Education

- Deliver engaging, science-based interpretation of the destination's natural history and conservation through storytelling, observation, discussion and educational presentations tailored to each group's interests, knowledge level and field conditions.
- Help guests develop a deeper understanding of the destination's natural history, conservation successes and ongoing challenges while inspiring curiosity, appreciation and stewardship.
- Spot wildlife and facilitate safe, ethical and memorable wildlife viewing experiences.

Guest Experience

- Lead small-group trips while creating a welcoming, inclusive and engaging environment for guests.

- Work collaboratively with a co-Expedition Leader to share guiding, interpretation, operational responsibilities and guest care throughout each trip.
- Provide exceptional guest service by building meaningful relationships, anticipating guest needs and adapting to individual interests and abilities to ensure every guest feels safe, informed and supported.
- Foster a positive group dynamic that encourages curiosity, participation and meaningful connections throughout the trip.
- Communicate daily logistics, safety information and trip expectations clearly and professionally.

Operations & Leadership

- Prepare for each trip by reviewing guest information, coordinating with team members and ensuring all logistical and interpretive materials are ready.
- Work collaboratively with fellow Expedition Leaders, Field Operations Specialists and local partners to deliver seamless,



safe and exceptional guest experiences.
- Lead the day-to-day execution of each trip by coordinating daily logistics, transportation, accommodations, meals and itinerary adjustments as needed.
- Maintain accurate trip documentation and communicate professionally and promptly with Nat Hab staff and local partners.

Safety, Problem Solving & Stewardship

- Prioritize guest safety through sound judgment, proactive risk management and effective decision-making.
- Anticipate and resolve operational challenges such as weather, schedule changes, transportation issues, guest needs and other unexpected situations while maintaining a calm, solutions-oriented approach.
- Uphold company policies and Leave No Trace principles while modeling environmentally responsible travel practices.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with guests, fellow Field Team members, and local partners at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience & Education

- Applicants should have either at least five years of professional guiding experience leading multi-day, small-group tours, a bachelor's degree in natural sciences or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional guiding experience.
- Demonstrated experience providing engaging natural history interpretation, including explaining wildlife behavior, ecology and conservation concepts to diverse audiences.
- Deep knowledge of the destination's natural history (including wildlife, ecology, habitats, ecosystems, plants and geology) and conservation, with a passion for sharing that knowledge with others.
- Professional guiding experience in the specific areas outlined in this itinerary preferred.
- Photography knowledge and experience providing photography instruction preferred.

Physical Requirements

- Able to work long hours for multiple consecutive days in physically and mentally demanding outdoor field environments.
- Must comfortably and reliably meet the physical requirements outlined for this itinerary.

Skills & Attributes

- Exceptional interpretation, storytelling and presentation skills, with the ability to deliver engaging, science-based interpretation, inspire curiosity and adapt educational content to diverse audiences in both formal presentations and informal field settings.
- Excellent customer service, communication and group management skills with the ability to create a welcoming, inclusive and engaging guest experience.
- Confident, calm problem-solver with sound judgment and the ability to make independent decisions in dynamic field environments.
- Professional,



proactive and adaptable, with a positive attitude, strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and collaboratively while consistently delivering exceptional guest experiences.

- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and staying current with developments in natural history, ecology and conservation.
- Fluency in English and Spanish required.

Required Credentials & Certifications (to be obtained before the start of the season)

- Wilderness First Aid certification (or equivalent locally recognized outdoor first aid training with a minimum of 16 instructional hours).
- CPR certification.

SCHEDULING & AVAILABILITY

This position leads trips throughout the operating season for this itinerary. Expedition Leaders should expect a variable schedule based on trip dates and operational needs, with long days while leading trips and varying time off between trips throughout the season.

Preference will be given to applicants available for the majority of scheduled trips. Shared accommodations with another Expedition Leader may be required when operationally necessary.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is an independent contractor role compensated at a competitive daily rate based on experience, with additional gratuity income from guests. Contractors are eligible for annual rate increases based on performance.

Comprehensive training is provided before the start of your first trip.

Nat Hab provides branded gear as well as meals and any required transportation and lodging while on assignment.

To support destination-specific learning and professional development, Nat Hab also offers a Learning Stipend. All Expedition Leaders receive $100 USD ($140 CAD) for their first season guiding Nat Hab trips in a new region and $50 ($70 CAD) in subsequent seasons.

Nat Hab also offers a visual media compensation program for approved marketing content contributions, including photography, video, and social media assets. Additional benefits include gear and travel discounts.
