As our Sr. Accounting Analyst, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely accounting records across assigned portfolios, leading the month-end close process, and ensuring compliance with Mexican tax regulations (SAT, IMSS, INFONAVIT).
Beyond core execution, you will serve as a technical reference for the team—identifying control gaps, driving process automation, contributing to the accounting treatment of new financial products, and mentoring junior team members with a high level of autonomy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Accounting Operations
- Manage, reconcile, and review assigned bank accounts daily and monthly; serve as the point person for complex reconciliation items.
- Oversee and review accounts payable transactions and fixed assets.
- Record and process payroll payments in coordination with HR and payroll teams.
- Book collections, early payments, and pay-off transactions; perform portfolio-level reconciliations between the loan management system and the general ledger.
- Review and validate journal entries prepared by junior analysts before posting to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation.
1. Reporting & Month-End Close
- Lead the month-end close process for assigned entities or portfolios and coordinate deliverables to meet tight closing deadlines.
- Prepare and review workpapers for monthly close,
ensuring accurate balances and documentation.
- Support the preparation of financial statements, management reports, commentary, and variance analysis.
- Deliver detailed periodic reports to the Accounting Manager, offering actionable insights alongside financial data.
1. Process Improvement & Technology
- Utilize accounting and ERP systems effectively while proactively identifying workflow optimizations and configuration improvements.
- Embrace and adopt AI-assisted tools for accounting workflows.
1. Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as a technical reference for junior Accounting Analysts; review their work and provide constructive feedback.
- Support the onboarding of new team members by sharing process knowledge and accounting standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Tax, Treasury, and Operations teams on complex transactions.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Public Accounting (Contador Público), Finance, or a related field (Required).
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated growth in scope and responsibility.
- Prior experience in financial services, FinTech, or a regulated industry (startup exposure is a major plus).ted experience reviewing or supervising the work of junior accountants.
- English: Upper-intermediate required · Advanced preferred.
