What you'll do
We're hiring a Senior Java Backend Engineer to lead the design and development of backend services powering Clara's financial platform.
The role involves architectural decisions, collaboration across teams, and ensuring our systems are performant, secure, and scalable.
Responsibilities
Design and implement robust backend services using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Batch.
Architect scalable, distributed systems and microservices that support our core financial products.
Model data and manage PostgreSQL and Redis for both transactional and caching needs.
Build and secure RESTful APIs for internal and external consumption.
Work with event‐driven architectures and tools like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
Mentor junior engineers, enforce best practices and quality standards.
Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver technical solutions that align with business goals.
Must haves
5+ years of backend development experience in Java,



including Spring Boot and Spring Batch.
Strong background in software architecture, system design, and microservices.
Proficiency with PostgreSQL, Redis, and scalable data modeling.
Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other message brokers.
Hands‐on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Strong understanding of cloud platforms, especially AWS.
Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban).
Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring capabilities.
Working proficiency in English and Spanish.
Proactive, execution‐focused, and adaptable to evolving technologies.
Nice to haves
Experience in financial applications or card processing systems.
Previous experience as a Tech Lead or engineering leader.
Interest in applying AI tools to backend development or automation.
