**SUMMARY**
This position is responsible for supporting and executing industrial safety, health, and environmental (EHS) programs at the facility.
It contributes to the development, implementation, and monitoring of EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as alignment with corporate EHS programs and standards.
The role focuses on the consistent execution and monitoring of EHS practices, promoting a proactive safety culture while ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal requirements.
It coordinates environmental and safety training and ensures the accuracy and maintenance of required documentation and records.
Additionally, the position provides frontline EHS leadership by working closely with supervisors and employees to reinforce safe work practices, promote accountability, and support compliance initiatives.
This role partners with operations, human resources, and other functions to maintain safe working conditions, ensure proper documentation, and contribute to overall operational effectiveness.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Support the environmental management process, including chemical inventory, waste streams, and other relevant data required for permit submission and compliance.
- Assist departments with processing reports, investigations, and spill reports, ensuring necessary supplies such as spill kits, first aid supplies, and proper training are available.
- Manage the hazard communication program.
- Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical inventory records.
- Review packing slips for incoming chemicals to ensure compliance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Monitor and maintain documentation and permits required by regulations, preparing related documents for signature in a timely manner.
- Update and maintain safety metrics and databases.
- Conduct safety inspections of workspaces, equipment, and operations, making recommendations for safety improvements.
- Conduct accident and incident investigations and reenactments to identify root causes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and relevant areas to develop and propose effective corrective actions aimed at preventing recurrence and ensure follow-up on the timely implementation and effectiveness of these actions.
- Implement and lead plant Safety and Environmental Committees, making recommendations to management.
- Respond to and aid in all emergency situations.
- Support risk assessments for current and new processes and equipment, ensuring that potential hazards are properly identified, evaluated, and addressed.
- Ensure that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is appropriate, available, and in good working order for employee use.
- Implement new hire onboarding programs to maximize engagement and safety.
- Coordinate and lead safety committee meetings on a monthly basis.
- Partner with other functions and serve as lead EHS for plant projects.
- Support and provide guidance to plant leadership.
- Provide day-to-day EHS support to supervisors and employees.

by providing practical EHS guidance to help them make safe and compliant decisions.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey safety requirements and interact effectively with employees at all levels.
- Working knowledge of machine guarding, industrial hygiene, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Ability to promote safe work practices and positively influence employee behavior on the shop floor.
- Basic conflict resolution skills to address issues constructively and escalate when necessary.

- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing processes, priorities, and operational needs.
