The Senior Buyer will lead direct material suppliers/contracts with the objective of reducing material cost and achieving targets as well as other Global Supply Chain metrics.
S/he will select, develop and lead the supply base for existing production material.
This position is located in Saltillo, Mexico reporting to the Plant Purchasing Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Negotiates long-term agreements for production components.
- Strategizes the purchasing of components locally and globally with support of the Global Commodity Managers.
- Plans, organizes, tracks, and communicates information related to production suppliers.
- Builds and develops new cost reduction ideas.
- Selects suppliers for existing products through effective use of validated procurement skills in an automotive environment.
- Recommends supplier process utilization by interpreting blueprints and evaluating customer needs.




- Explore and pursue cost reduction opportunities and negotiates in cost recoveries.
- Explores available and new technologies in the market and implements standard methodologies related to purchasing activities.
- Develops new suppliers that meet cost, quality and delivery requirements.
- Evaluates part designs with engineering, quality and suppliers to acquire optimum efficiencies.
- Maintains database updates while monitors suppliers metrics and performance.
- Supports other functions when required due to low suppliers' performance in quality or deliveries.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Requires a Bachelor's in Business or Engineering
- 5+ years in Supply Management experience in an automotive production environment
- Strong Technical Skills
- Experience with high spend and complex commodities
- SAP
