Job Title: MBD Controls Engineer – Battery Management Systems (BMS)Location: WisconsinDuration: Long TermClient: ClariosJob Description:Position Summary:We are looking for an experienced Model-Based Development (MBD) Controls Engineer to join our advanced energy storage engineering team.
You will be responsible for developing, simulating, and generating production-ready embedded software code for Clarios Battery Management Systems (BMS).
Using MATLAB/Simulink and automated code generation tools, you will transform control strategies into highly optimized embedded software that ensures battery safety, longevity, and efficiency.Key Responsibilities:Control Algorithm Development: Design and develop control algorithms and state machines for BMS applications (e.g., Cell Balancing, State of Charge (SoC), State of Health (SoH), and fault diagnostics) using MATLAB and Simulink.Model-Based Development: Build, maintain, and execute Model-in-the-Loop (MIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) testing to validate control logic against system specifications.Auto-Code Generation:



Utilize TargetLink or Embedded Coder to convert verified Simulink models into production-quality, MISRA-C compliant embedded code.Software Optimization: Optimize generated code for execution speed, memory footprint, and integration within automotive Electronic Control Units (ECUs).
Collaboration: Work alongside Systems Engineers to interpret technical specifications and Hand-off generated code to the ECU integration team.Required Qualifications:Education: BE / BTech / ME / MTech in Electrical, Electronics, Controls, or Instrumentation Engineering.Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink for model-based application design.Code Gen Tools: Hands-on experience with production code generation tools, specifically dSPACE TargetLink or MathWorks Embedded Coder.Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of battery physics, cell characteristics, and fundamental Battery Management System (BMS) architectures.Standards: Familiarity with automotive standards such as MISRA-C, ISO ***** (Functional Safety), and ASPICE.
