The HV Substation Engineer is responsible for the engineering activities required for turnkey EPC high‐voltage substation projects, including detailed design for high‐voltage substation and transmission projects.
This position offers the ability to directly apply the candidate's knowledge of electrical engineering in substation and transmission projects.
Responsibilities
Review project design criteria and prioritize tasks for ongoing projects.
Develop one‐line and station auxiliary one‐line diagrams for new substation projects.
Attend internal project team meetings to discuss general arrangement, layout, and elevation drawings.
Share progress updates and address design concerns.
Perform grounding, cable ampacity, lightning, illumination, and load calculations; document results and integrate them into the overall design.
Review manufacturer documentation for equipment specifications and identify discrepancies that need further investigation.
Support the 3D design team by reviewing models and proposing electrical design improvements.
Perform trench and conduit design and develop conceptual designs for pricing and proposals.
Provide technical advice on schedule, risk management, and specialized assignments.
Qualifications
Electrical Engineer or Electromechanical Engineer with 5+ years of experience focusing on primary electrical design for high‐voltage substations.
Strong communication skills and fluent English language proficiency.
Knowledge of ANSI, NEC and IEC standards.
Experience with equipment typically used in substation projects.
Proficiency with Auto‐CAD, MicroStation, and Revit is a plus.
Strong communication and technical skills for interdisciplinary collaboration with other technicians and engineers.
