Job SummaryThe Procurement Project Manager – NPD supports procurement execution and supplier engagement activities for Nidec Automations new product development.
This role works closely with cross‐functional teams to help ensure material deliverables are completed on time, aligned with internal profitability targets, supplier scale, and streamlined transition to active plant manufacture.
The position focuses on active coordination of procurement activities, including supplier selection, negotiation support, and critical communication throughout the product development lifecycle.
Additionally, enabling successful product launches through effective supplier management, collaboration, and project support.Job DescriptionKey ResponsibilitiesRepresent Procurement on cross‐functional NPD project teamsTrack procurement deliverables and support stage‐gate development activitiesMaintain sourcing timelines and escape risks or delays to leadershipAssist in coordinating supplier readiness for product launchesExecute RFQ processes, including collecting and analyzing supplier quotations in partnership with procurement contributorsAssist with cost analysis and support negotiations aligned with project goalsPartner with Supplier Quality to ensure suppliers meet critical requirementsLead supplier selection that execute the procurement commodity strategyDrive procurement cost modeling and target costingOwn and advise bill of material (BOM) cost estimates and updatesContribute to tracking cost savings and cost avoidance until SOPCoordinate procurement of tooling, and pre‐production materials; Run off, Pre‐pilot,
Pilot and SOP MaterialTrack supplier deliveries to support build timelines and validation activitiesAssist in resolving supply or delivery issues during pre‐pilot and pilot and SOP activityEnsure activities align with internal procurement processes and NPD stage‐gate requirements, supporting procurement commodity strategySupport compliance with quality, regulatory, and company standardsEnsure PPAP & APQP quality levels are adhered to via supplier selectionRequired QualificationsEducation: B.S. in Business, Supply Chain management, or related fieldExperience: 5+ years in procurement, supply chain, or business managementExperience supporting sourcing, supplier management, or project coordinationExposure to manufacturing, new product development preferredFamiliarity with cross‐functional teamwork, project timelines, balancing incentivesSkills:Strong organizational and communication with leadership teamsProficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with data analysis tools is a plusBasic understanding of sourcing, cost analysis, and supplier managementAbility to manage multiple tasks and support project timelinesPreferred Experience:New Product Development/Introduction (NPD/NPI)Time spent participating in Stage‐Gate processCollaboration with suppliers matching internal quality targets (PPAP, APQP)Familiarity with ERP or PLM systemsLanguages: English required, Spanish preferredTravel: Up to 10%, Domestic & InternationalAdditional Job DetailsWorks to achieve operational, functional,
