This is an exciting opportunity to support the LEGO Group Tax VAT as you join a growing business in an international department with colleagues spread all over the world.
The role supports the timely and quality preparation of tax compliance within the region by ensuring complete and accurate information is provided to tax preparers ensuring that the tax returns process is transparent and documented.
**Core Responsibilities**:
- In charge of the full-cycle tax compliance for Indirect Taxes and Tax Withholdings for Mexico and Brazil retail entities.
This role includes calculating the monthly VAT and Tax Withholdings (CIT and VAT) payments for Mexico and submitting the information needed to our third-party service provider to prepare the tax filings for Indirect Taxes and Tax Withholdings in Brazil.
Tax Funding request to Treasury for the LATAM entities.
- Ensure efficient internal controls by reconciling Tax records with accounting records to guarantee proper statutory reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Identifying, in a timely manner, potential risks or impacts to the business through analysis.
Support to the business by maintaining a healthy aging of the Tax accounts balances.
- Prepare "audit readiness" tax files and adopt a proactive risk-mitigation approach for tax compliance.
- In charge of the month-end close process of Indirect Taxes of the entities under his/her control, inclusive of tax payments and settlements, tax accruals, and returns to provision.
- Prepared and requested on a monthly basis the VAT tax refunds of the Mexican entities, doing the initial refund request, and responding to the subsequent tax inquiries related to VAT refunds.




- Strong capacity of analysis to document End to End (E2E) processes and be able to connect the dots, acting as a driver of process improvement.
Preferred experience with Lean Culture/Continuous Improvement/ Project management methodology.
- In charge of preparing the deliverables for tax auditor reports (SIPRED/ISSIF), including the reconciliation of CIT (ISR) to VAT (IVA), and other local statutory reporting requested by the business, explaining variations as part of the balance sheet review.
- Strong individual contributor, with strong curiosity, and capacity to be self-driven, with experience preparing tax reporting for corporate stakeholders.
Demonstrating high communication skills to provide advice to senior stakeholders.
Teamworker with experience interacting with different departments across the organization (Foreign Trade, Finance, etc.).
**Play your part in our team succeeding**:
The Accounting Services organization consists of the Tax Operations & Compliance (ToC) team and General Ledger (GL) teams operating within the LEGO Business Service Operations (BSO).
Within BSO, the ToC team is responsible for meeting the global tax and statutory compliance requirements and the GL team is responsible for the maintenance of the general ledger and preparation of the consolidation reports.
The department balances a mix of internal resources and third parties to efficiently meet global compliance requirements.




The department focuses on transparent and accurate status reporting, maintaining a strong internal control framework, demonstrating technology and standard processes to meet its operational targets and satisfy partners.
The role will require a self-starter mentality and a progressive drive to bring in continuously improved processes into the ToC department.
The performance is determined not only on the stated objectives but on the collaboration and service management provided to partners.
Also, the role is encouraged to bring innovative ideas and challenge existing practices to meet partner needs.
**Do you have what it takes?
**:
- Bachelors in Accounting or Finance, CPA, JD.
- Accounting / Tax Certifications
- Relevant experience in Tax and Accounting roles.
In charge of local tax compliance of Indirect and Direct Taxes of Mexican entities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to provide key insights and concise recommendations to upper-level management.
- Process improvement mindset, with the ability to map the process End-to-End (E2E), identify root causes, and propose new processes in flow charts and/or narratives that enhance the internal controls from a tax perspective.
- Ability to work independently to drive the successful completion of projects, compliance objectives, and achievement of key metrics of the department (aging, risk exposure, tax incidents management).
- Ability to collaborate globally with internal stakeholders, general third-party service providers, and compliance bodies.
- Strong knowledge in data analytics tools, i.e., Power BI, and ERP (SAP), and Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Word).
- Fully Bilingüal, portuguese desirable.
