Our client school in Puebla, Mexico is seeking a Primary/Elementary Media Center Specialist (Librarian) for August, ****.
1. GENERAL INFORMATION

Position Title:
Primary CMI Teaching Specialist (Centro de Medios de Información).

General Purpose:
Integration of the CAP Curriculum with the Media Center (CMI), promotion of reading, and development of research and inquiry skills.

Related Areas:
Technology, English and Spanish Coordination, Primary Years Programme (PYP) Coordination.

Direct Reports:
None.
2. CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education & Language:
Education degree with advanced proficiency in English and Spanish (written and oral - C1 or C2) .

Mandatory Requirement:
Professional
English Speaker
with proven mastery of academic literacy and children's/young adult literature.

Skills:
Collaborative work, initiative, creativity, assertive communication, and pedagogical empathy.

Attitudes & Values:
Service-oriented, responsibility, reliability, loyalty, open-mindedness, systemic thinking, organization, discretion, and integrity.

Availability:
Full-time.
3. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
A. Academic and Pedagogical Integration

CMI Induction:
Conduct Information Literacy and APA style sessions for students from 1st to 6th grade.

Skill Development:
Foster research strategies that complement and enrich the CAP Curriculum.

Collection Management & Curation:
Review catalogs and create "Resource Folders" (physical or digital)



by grade level and Unit of Inquiry, facilitating access for teachers and students. Ensure cataloged materials are age-appropriate and relevant.

Reading Promotion (Storytelling):
Read stories in English/Spanish related to Units or seasonal themes.

Duration:
30 minutes (1st to 5th grade) and 40 minutes (6th grade).

Teacher Support:
Proactively search for materials to support learning experiences and provide direct assistance to homeroom teachers in inquiry activities.
B. CMI Services and User Attention

Circulation Management:
Expert use of the cloud based library management system (e.g.,
Follett Destiny
) for checking out, returning, and renewing materials.

User Guidance:
Provide personalized guidance to teachers, parents, and students on using print resources and digital databases to meet their information needs.
4. LITERARY PROMOTION AND EVENTS

Reading Nights ("Noches de Lectura"):
Organize and execute recreational reading promotion sessions (once a month per grade from 1st to 4th grade).

Creative Characterization:
Design and wear costumes related to the theme or book of the month to enhance storytelling in special sessions.

Participatory Dynamics:




Implement gamified activities to capture student interest in reading.

Family Integration:
Coordinate parent attendance at the CMI for joint reading activities.

Special Schedule:
Availability to open the CMI during extended hours from
17:00 to 19:00
for the execution of these activities.

Note:
Hours dedicated to "Reading Nights" outside the base schedule will be remunerated as extra compensation.
5. ADMINISTRATION AND DOCUMENTATION

Official Reports:
Contribute quarterly to School Improvement Reports (SEP) and any documentation requested by supervision.

Collection Maintenance:
Daily shelf-reading to ensure materials are correctly ordered and accessible.

Technical Processes:
○ Cataloging new books into the system.
○ Assigning acquisition numbers and applying barcodes labels.
○ Recording entries in control notebooks.
○ Participation in general administrative processes (inventory, user registration/cancellation, overdue management).
6. WORKING CONDITIONS AND RESOURCES

Work Location:
Media Information Center (CMI).

Technological Resources:
Computer, printer, iPads, internet access, and database subscriptions.

Contract Type:
Academic.

Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 15:00 hours.
