Purpose of Role The purpose of the Psychologist role is to assess, diagnose, and support individuals with emotional, psychological, behavioural, or mental health difficulties. The psychologist uses evidence‑based interventions to help clients improve their well‑being, cope with challenges, and achieve positive mental health outcomes. Working collaboratively with students, families and other professionals, the psychologist plays a key role in promoting psychological resilience and supporting holistic care within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities Conduct psychological assessments, including interviews, observations and standardized testing, to diagnose behavioural conditions.
Provide one‑to‑one and group psychological interventions to support students emotional well‑being.
Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with professional and legal standards.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., psychiatrists, social workers, educators) to ensure coordinated care and support for clients.
Offer expert advice and consultation to colleagues, carers and other professionals regarding psychological aspects of care or intervention.
Deliver training, guidance or workshops on emotional health awareness and psychological practices when required.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, adapting approaches to meet the evolving needs of students.
Stay current with developments in psychology through ongoing professional development, research and supervision.
Skills Strong assessment, diagnostic and formulation skills using psychological theory and evidence‑based practice.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with a wide range of clients.
High level of emotional resilience,



self‑awareness and ability to manage complex or sensitive situations.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
Effective written communication for report writing, documentation and case records.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
Strong understanding of ethical frameworks and professional boundaries.
Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or equivalent (required).
Experience Relevant experience in delivering psychological assessments and interventions.
Experience working with individuals across a range of ages, backgrounds or conditions, depending on the setting.
Familiarity with safeguarding practices and managing risk in a clinical or organisational setting.
Experience working within a multidisciplinary team and contributing to care planning and support strategies.
Prior involvement in service development, audit or research activities is advantageous.
