The Planner is responsible for coordinating and managing production schedules, material availability, and work order priorities to support on-time delivery and efficient manufacturing operations. This role works closely with Production, Purchasing, Engineering, Warehouse, and Customer Service to ensure customer requirements and production goals are achieved.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create, maintain, and update production schedules based on customer demand and manufacturing capacity.
- Review sales orders and production requirements to establish job priorities and due dates.
- Monitor work orders and production progress to ensure on-time completion and shipment.
- Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure raw materials and components are available to support production schedules.
- Assist in Material Requirement Planning (MRP) activities and system maintenance.
- Release and track manufacturing jobs through the production process.
- Communicate schedule changes, shortages, delays, and priority updates to appropriate departments.
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Warehouse teams to resolve scheduling or material issues.
- Monitor inventory levels and help maintain appropriate stock quantities.
- Support cycle count and inventory accuracy initiatives as needed.
- Review and maintain accurate planning data in ERP/MRP systems.
- Assist with expediting critical jobs and materials to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Participate in production meetings and provide schedule status updates.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning and production efficiency.
- Maintain company quality standards and compliance with internal procedures.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and regulations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- Associate degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Minimum 2–4 years of production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment required.
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to analyze production data and prioritize workload effectively.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
