AI Engineer (Finance Systems & Integrations)

They are a modern fractional CFO firm built for the next generation of consumer brands.

Rather than relying solely on spreadsheets or generic FP&A; software, they combine experienced finance professionals with custom AI-powered tools to deliver faster, more insightful financial operations for growing businesses.

Their clients are primarily emerging CPG, eCommerce, and consumer brands that need sophisticated finance support without building an internal finance department.

They are building proprietary technology—including automated cash flow forecasting, financial reporting, workflow automation, and AI-enabled finance tools—that will eventually become products in their own right.

They are looking for an experienced AI Engineer who wants to help build that future.

The Opportunity

This is not a traditional software engineering role.

You'll work directly alongside the founder to build the internal operating system powering a modern finance consultancy. You'll create tools that automate financial workflows, integrate financial systems, improve analyst productivity, and eventually become customer-facing software products.

You'll have significant ownership over architecture and technical direction while collaborating closely with finance professionals who deeply understand the business problems you're solving.

If you enjoy building practical AI applications—not just experimenting with prompts—but solving real operational problems with software, this role is for you.

What You'll Be Responsible For

- Build AI-powered internal applications used by the finance team

- Develop financial tools such as automated 13-week cash flow forecasting

- Integrate with platforms including:

- QuickBooks

- Shopify

- Banking APIs

- Financial data providers

- Design clean data pipelines and financial data models





- Build workflow automation and ticketing systems for finance requests

- Create tools that allow FP&A; professionals to deliver work faster

- Ensure financial data quality through validation and reconciliation logic

- Translate product specifications into scalable technical solutions

- Recommend better architectures and technical improvements as the platform evolves

- Collaborate daily with the founder to rapidly prototype and ship new functionality

What We're Looking For

Required
- 5+ years of software engineering experience

- Experience building production AI-enabled applications

- Strong experience with APIs and third-party integrations

- Experience working with structured financial or accounting data

- Ability to understand finance workflows—not just software development

- Strong product thinking and problem-solving ability

- Comfortable working in an early-stage startup with ambiguity

- Excellent written and spoken English

- Able to work EST business hours

Nice to Have
- Experience with QuickBooks APIs

- Shopify integrations

- Banking APIs (Plaid, Stripe Financial Connections, etc.)

- Accounting or FP&A; software experience

- Workflow automation platforms

- Experience building internal operational tools

- Background working with finance, accounting, or consulting businesses
