The 8th-grade English teacher is responsible for planning and facilitating engaging, rigorous instruction that focuses on various genres of English literature and develops the critical reading, writing, speaking, and thinking skills of all learners. The course equips students with the skills and strategies needed to be more independent and self-directed learners as they prepare to enter high school. These include annotating, rhetorical analysis, and crafting a nuanced argument.
