Role Definition
Participates in IT infrastructure by using appropriate and trending technologies.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the maintenance of the infrastructure of IT systems that support the business to function efficiently.
- Ensure solutions that are aligned the current systems are best practices and comply to federal policies and procedures.
- Manage updates, upgrades, and other maintenance tasks in both hardware and software areas, to make the network more efficient, cost-effective, and secure.

Technical Analysis: Knowledge of the concepts, methodologies, and activities in technical analysis; ability to forecast the direction of technical landscape using technical indicators and take collective actions.
Level Basic Understanding:
- Lists commonly used technical analysis tools and technologies.
- Documents key technical analysis procedures and policies.
- Describes basic concepts and major activities associated with technical analysis.
- Identifies the sources of information to extract the required data and technical indicators.
Level Basic Understanding:
- Uses a structured approach in analyzing and resolving technical problems.
- Seeks opportunities for continual learning to maintain technical competence in pursuit of technical excellence.
- Provides examples or case studies demonstrating technical excellence in actual business scenarios.
- Pursues, prepares for and assumes new technical assignments and challenges.
Hardware Infrastructure: Knowledge of computer architecture and systems programming; ability to design, build and integrate IT hardware into multi-platforms for the organization.
Level Basic Understanding:
- Describes the advantages and disadvantages found in commonly used hardware products.
- Identifies the main components of IT hardware.
- Lists the main hardware vendors and products within the market place.
- Cites examples of effective hardware usage within the organization.
System Testing: Knowledge of system and software testing; ability to design, plan and execute system testing strategies and tactics to ensure the quality of software at all stages of the system life cycle.
Level Basic Understanding:
- Describes major components of system testing used by the organization.
- Documents the standard processes and procedures involved in system testing.
- Explains the importance of thorough system testing prior to implementation.
- Identifies common errors that occur in standard system testing activities.
Systems Software Infrastructure:
Knowledge of computer architecture and system software interaction; ability to design and build a fundamental architecture of operating systems, database management systems, communications protocols, compilers and other development tools.
Level Basic Understanding:
- Discusses the inter-relationship between software, hardware and telecommunications.
- Lists major software components and problems with the current software environment.
- Describes architectural principles, blueprints and standards.
- Identifies key aspects of the organization's software infrastructure.
Level Basic Understanding:
- Highlights the characteristics of excellent and poorly composed documentation.
- Describes basic writing standards and procedures of technical writing.
- Identifies available delivery alternatives (e.g. paper, on-line) in the local environment.
- Explains the basic concepts behind effective technical documentation.
