**Job Title**: Animation Manager
**Location**: Remote

We’re looking for an experienced and visionary **Animation Manager** to lead the creative direction and execution of animated educational content for our YouTube channel. The channel focuses on **ships, naval engineering, and the maritime industry**—turning complex technical topics into clear, captivating visual narratives.
You will manage the visual storytelling process from **script to final animation**, guide a team of animators, and ensure each video maintains high artistic and technical quality. This is a **long-term freelance opportunity**, producing 1-3 videos (10-15 minutes each) per week.
**What You'll Do**
- Oversee the **creative vision and artistic direction** of animated YouTube videos
- Lead the visual storytelling process **from storyboard to animatic**:
- Translate scripts and voiceovers into clear, engaging **animatic sequences**:
- Provide creative direction and **supervise Animatics Assistants**—reviewing and assigning their work
- Ensure consistency in **pacing, shot composition, and narrative clarity**:
- Review and approve **storyboards, designs, and visual treatments**:
- Collaborate with scriptwriters and producers to align narrative and visual style
- Manage the **production schedule**, ensuring efficient workflow and timely delivery
- Identify and resolve workflow bottlenecks and **optimize production pipelines**:
- Maintain high standards for **YouTube content**,
tailored to viewer engagement best practices
- Optionally contribute to **high-level animation planning** and the development of **style guides**
**What We're Looking For**
- Strong leadership and a **clear creative vision**:
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and mentoring skills
- 3+ years of experience in **animatic direction**, **storyboarding**, or animation pre-production
- Proven ability to **guide animation teams**, meet deadlines, and uphold visual consistency
- Strong understanding of **visual storytelling**, especially in **educational or technical content**:
- Ability to interpret and visualize complex concepts in a clear, engaging way
**Required Qualifications**
- Portfolio demonstrating leadership in **visual storytelling** (storyboards, animatics, or animations)
- Proficiency in tools such as **Blender, After Effects, Adobe Photoshop**, or similar
- Experience with **video editing and compositing tools** (e.g., After Effects, Blender)
- Experience in creating or directing **2D/3D animatics** is a major plus
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Familiarity with **YouTube video specs**, animation pacing, and audience engagement strategies
**Technical Skills**
- Advanced knowledge of **2D/3D animation pipelines and workflows**:
- Must know animatics
- Proficiency with animation tools (e.g., **Blender**, **After Effects**)
- Video editing expertise
- Understanding of motion design, infographics, and **technical visualization**:
- Ability to collaborate across distributed teams and provide constructive feedback
