Senior Data Platform Engineer — Snowflake (Healthcare AI)

About the role

Ankbyte is an Austin-based AI engineering firm with operations in Mexico City and Monterrey, building production AI for US healthcare companies. You will own the data foundation for a US dental-AI product launching in September 2026: a greenfield, governed data platform that powers patient analytics, AI model training, and a longitudinal clinical data asset. This is a design-and-build role — you make the architecture decisions, then ship them.

What you'll own

- Design and build the lakehouse foundation: Snowflake Apache Iceberg on S3, medallion zones (raw → conformed → serving)
- Model the longitudinal patient data spine: versioned, time-series events (photos, symptoms, treatments, outcomes) with consent and permission metadata at row level
- Define the event instrumentation contract with the app teams — every product action lands in the platform, governed and consented
- Data governance: HIPAA-aligned access controls (RBAC), lineage, audit trails, consent enforcement
- Analytics delivery: patient-360 and practice-facing marts,



natural-language query views (Snowflake Intelligence)
- MLOps foundations: versioned training/eval datasets generated as queries, retraining data store, pipeline to GPU training environments

What we're looking for

- 5 years in data engineering, with at least 2 owning Snowflake in production (modeling, performance, RBAC/governance)
- Hands-on lakehouse experience: Iceberg (or Delta) on object storage, schema evolution, time-travel
- Strong Python SQL; orchestration (Airflow/Dagster or similar); dbt or equivalent transformation discipline
- You think in data contracts and governance, not just pipelines — you can defend an architecture decision to a founder
- Professional English (daily work with a US team); Spanish native/fluent

Nice to have

- Snowflake Cortex (Search / Intelligence), healthcare or other regulated-data experience (PHI/HIPAA), AWS SageMaker exposure, event-driven architectures
