About the role
As an Experienced Mechanical Engineer, you will execute critical elements of product development, testing, and the optimization of HVAC products and components. Your expertise will directly impact our customers by driving quality improvements based on end‑user experiences and ensuring the delivery of world‑class, safe, and cost‑competitive solutions. You will lead mid to high‑complexity programs, providing robust engineering support for field quality issues and collaborating with manufacturing plants to enhance product reliability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing elements of product development activities, including cost estimates, implementation of standard specifications, drawing board layouts, and development of performance and maintenance requirements.
- Providing engineering support for field quality issues and factory support regarding product engineering and design in commercial manufacturing plants.
- Leading and executing mid to high‑complexity programs with minimal supervision, ensuring efficient time management and project delivery.
- Executing engineering tests and qualification plans for systems, sub‑systems, and components, and modifying equipment based on test results to meet design specifications.
- Maintaining the accuracy of engineering information by updating and managing the master Bill of Materials (BOM), drawings, and engineering specifications.
- Developing computer models to simulate system and component performance, and testing structures or materials for use in engineering designs.
- Collaborating with the product management team, quality clinics, and key stakeholders to develop new product options, address field issues, and enhance the commonality and optimization of components.
Requirements
We are looking for people who are analytical, quality‑driven, and highly technical problem‑solvers.
- University Degree or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
- OR an advanced degree in a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
- 3 to 5 years of experience specifically as a Product/Design Engineer, including at least 5 years working with product change implementation.
- Technical expertise in HVAC equipment and applications, Electricity, Electronics, and Mechanical systems, along with strong troubleshooting skills.
- Solid knowledge of Heat Transfer, Fluid Flow, and Thermodynamics.
- Practical to substantial knowledge of design processes, tools, and the ability to enhance standard specifications.
- Experience in securing and maintaining agency reports and certifications for commercial products, such as AHRI, UL, and ETL.
- Prior experience working with quality clinics and related departments to support the test and verification of field issues.
- Familiarity with Carrier organization, programs, or systems with the ability to leverage this knowledge in daily work.
