Role Description The Event Manager role at The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai is a full-time, on-site position based in Playa del Carmen, ROO.
This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a variety of events, including social, corporate, and group functions, ensuring that each event aligns with brand standards and guest expectations.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Managing event timelines, budgets, and logistics;
- Liaising with clients to understand needs and propose customized event solutions;
- Coordinating with internal teams such as catering, operations, sales, and audiovisual to deliver seamless event experiences.
- The Event Manager oversees event setup and breakdown, conducts on-site supervision during events, and handles any issues that arise to maintain guest satisfaction.
- This role also involves preparing event proposals and contracts, maintaining accurate documentation, tracking performance metrics, and contributing to continuous improvement of event processes and offerings.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in event planning and management, including coordinating logistics, timelines, and budgets for social, corporate, or luxury hospitality events.
- Strong client relationship skills, with the ability to understand client goals, present tailored event concepts, negotiate details, and provide clear, professional communication.
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities, including attention to detail, multitasking under time constraints, and prioritizing multiple events simultaneously.
- Demonstrated leadership and team collaboration skills, with experience directing on-site event staff and working cross-functionally with catering, operations, sales, and technical teams.
- Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the capacity to anticipate potential challenges, respond quickly to issues during events, and maintain composure under pressure.
- Proficiency with event management software, scheduling tools, and basic office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with hotel or venue management systems is an advantage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Spanish is highly beneficial given the location and clientele.
- Background in hospitality, tourism, or a related field, ideally within luxury or lifestyle brands; prior on-site hotel or resort experience is preferred.
- Ability to work on-site in Playa del Carmen, ROO, with a adaptable schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event operations.
- Relevant education such as a degree or certification in Event Management, Hospitality, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
