Join our engineering team as a Senior Engineer focused on electromechanical and mechanical design. You'll develop innovative systems that integrate mechanical, electrical, and electronic components while pushing the boundaries of performance and reliability. The Electromechanical Engineer for New Development Projects — Power Panelboards is responsible for developing, optimizing, and validating new electromechanical designs for Power Panelboard offers. This role contributes to new product development, platform evolution, feature development, cost optimization, product robustness, and manufacturability improvements. The position requires strong technical autonomy, advanced electromechanical design capability, CAD proficiency, design-to-cost mindset, critical thinking, and the ability to make decisions in complex or ambiguous development environments. The engineer will work with offer management, manufacturing, quality, industrialization, procurement, testing, certification, and project teams to deliver innovative, reliable, manufacturable, and standards-compliant solutions. What will you do? New Product Development Develop electromechanical designs for new Power Panelboard products, platforms, features, options, and subsystems. Translate product requirements, customer needs, standards, application constraints, and project objectives into robust technical solutions. Participate in concept generation, architecture definition, feasibility studies, detailed design, prototyping, testing, validation, industrialization, and product release. Support offer creation projects by delivering technical outputs aligned with cost, quality, reliability, safety, and schedule targets.
Contribute to innovation and differentiation of future Power Panelboard offers. Electromechanical Design and Optimization Design and optimize mechanical and electromechanical assemblies, including structures, enclosures, busbar systems, supports, barriers, mounting systems, and related components. Apply CAD, GD&T;, tolerance analysis, material selection, surface treatment, design-for-manufacturing, and design-for-assembly principles. Use simulation, modeling, prototyping, and test feedback to improve performance and manufacturability. Balance trade-offs between cost, performance, reliability, manufacturability, safety, compliance, installation efficiency, and customer value. Develop scalable and standardized design solutions that support product family growth and offer competitiveness. Design-To-Cost and Product Competitiveness Lead or support design-to-cost initiatives for new Power Panelboard solutions. Identify opportunities to reduce material cost, assembly complexity, part count, tooling impact, and product variability. Collaborate with procurement, manufacturing, quality, and industrialization teams to develop feasible and competitive designs. Support supplier technical discussions, component qualification, and alternative material or process evaluations.
Ensure design decisions contribute to both technical robustness and business competitiveness. Product Safety, Reliability and Compliance Ensure designs meet applicable electrical safety, mechanical integrity, regulatory, and internal standardization requirements. Support verification and validation planning, prototype evaluation, issue resolution, and design corrections. Collaborate with test laboratories, certification teams, and quality stakeholders to demonstrate compliance. Apply design-for-safety and design-for-reliability principles throughout the development cycle. Document technical assumptions, design decisions, validation evidence, and lessons learned. Technical Leadership and Collaboration Provide technical guidance to engineers, designers, and cross-functional project contributors. Support project planning by estimating technical effort, identifying risks, and proposing mitigation actions. Communicate technical recommendations, risks, trade-offs, and decisions clearly to stakeholders. Contribute to design rules, standards, checklists, technical guidelines, and knowledge capitalization. Promote disciplined engineering execution, continuous improvement, and technical excellence. What qualifications will make you successful? Strong ability to work independently while setting priorities and guiding other professionals Comfort making decisions in ambiguous situations using precedent and technical judgment Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence across multidisciplinary teams Proactive approach to seeking guidance when needed while maintaining minimal supervision
