Role description We are looking for an experienced Oracle Database Support Engineer / DBA to provide long-term remote support for a business-critical cruise and ferry reservation platform used by an established European Managed Service Provider.

The role focuses on Oracle database stability, performance, operational support, and troubleshooting in a production environment. You will work closely with application and infrastructure teams to investigate incidents, support operational changes, and determine whether issues originate in the database, application, infrastructure, or integration layers.

Contract type: B2B

Work arrangement: 30 to 50 hours per week

Compensation range: €15 to €35 per hour

Responsibilities

- Own Oracle database stability, performance, and operational reliability.
- Investigate and resolve database-related production incidents and performance issues.
- Support database operations, including scripts, snapshots, environment refreshes, patching, and rollback activities.
- Manage backup, snapshot, and restore operations, including Oracle databases running on AWS RDS.
- Troubleshoot failed batch and ETL processes from the database side.
- Distinguish database issues from application,



infrastructure, and integration-related causes.
- Prepare clear technical evidence and findings for vendor escalation.

Main Requirements

- Experience as an Oracle DBA or Database Support Engineer in production environments.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
- Hands-on experience with database performance investigation and tuning.
- Good understanding of database schemas and application-database interactions.
- Experience with production database operations, including backup, restore, snapshots, and environment refreshes.
- Experience in troubleshooting database-related incidents and identifying root causes.
- Experience running Oracle on AWS RDS.
- Exposure to Java/Tomcat application environments.
- Experience with ActiveMQ, ETL pipelines, and API-based integrations.
- Location in UTC−02:00 to UTC−08:00 timezone

Other Requirements

- Comfortable working independently in a remote production support environment.
- Able to prepare clear technical documentation and evidence for external vendor escalation.
- Fluent English

Nice to Have, but Not Mandatory

- Experience with cruise, ferry, travel, reservation, booking, or ticketing systems.
- Previous experience with Versonix Seaware.
- Previous experience working with a Managed Service Provider or managed service environments.
