Assistant Safety Manager – U.S. Interstate TruckingFull-Time | Long-Term | RemoteIn Time Transport Corp. is a growing U.S.-based interstate trucking company seeking an experienced Assistant Safety Manager to support the daily operation of our Safety Department.Our fleet operates Class 8 semi-trucks throughout the continental United States, primarily with dry van trailers, with expansion into open-deck and flatbed operations.This is not an entry-level position.
We need someone with real, hands-on experience working inside the Safety Department of a U.S. interstate motor carrier.Experience limited to driver recruiting, dispatch, general customer service, ELD sales, subscription support, or logistics administration does not qualify unless the candidate also performed direct carrier safety and compliance work.Work ScheduleMonday through Friday7:00 a.M.–4:00 p.M. Chicago Central TimeOne-hour breakThe successful candidate must be able to consistently work this schedule from their location.Reasonable availability may occasionally be required for serious accidents and other urgent safety matters.ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant Safety Manager will work closely with the Head of Safety and company ownership to support:- DOT and FMCSA compliance- Hours-of-Service monitoring and ELD log audits- Driver Qualification File maintenance- CDL and medical-card verification- MVR, PSP, and Clearinghouse review- Annual MVR reviews- Roadside-inspection review- Violation follow-up and corrective actions- CSA performance monitoring- Accident intake and documentation- Accident investigations and root-cause analysis- Post-accident drug and alcohol testing coordination- Driver coaching and retraining- Dashcam and driver-safety event review- Written corrective-action plans- Repeat-offender management- Driver accountability and discipline- Safety meetings and training- Safety task tracking and follow-up- Preparation of reports for management- DOT audit preparation- Safety SOP development and improvementThe candidate must be comfortable communicating directly with drivers, documenting safety issues, enforcing company policies, and escalating serious or repeated violations.Mandatory Qualifications- At least two years of direct trucking safety or DOT-compliance experience- Experience supporting a U.S. interstate Class 8 OTR trucking company- Practical experience with HOS rules and ELD log review- Experience maintaining Driver Qualification Files- Experience reviewing roadside inspections and violations- Experience handling accidents and safety documentation- Experience coaching drivers regarding unsafe behavior- Experience reviewing dashcam or safety-video events- Working knowledge of FMCSA regulations- Strong written and spoken English- Strong attention to detail and documentation- Ability to work independently and complete follow-up without constant supervision- Reliable internet connection and professional remote-work environmentCandidates whose experience is limited to box trucks, cargo vans, hotshot operations, local delivery, courier services, moving companies, or last-mile operations are not a match.TechnologyExperience with the following is preferred:- Samsara- Netradyne or another commercial dashcam platform- ClickUp or another workflow-management platform- DataTruck or another trucking TMS- Fleetio- Google Workspace- Microsoft Excel- AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or GeminiCandidates should be comfortable learning new systems and demonstrating their knowledge during a live screen-sharing assessment.Selected candidates will complete a practical safety assessment during a live interview.Please do not apply unless you have direct, hands-on U.S. carrier safety experience.
