Overview Yucateco Dialect Specialist - Freelance AI Trainer Project — Mexico.
We are seeking a Yucateco language expert to help shape the future of AI by contributing high‐quality training data and evaluating language models on Yucatecan grammar, syntax, morphology, phonology, semantics, and pragmatics.
Role involves challenging advanced language models on topics such as verb conjugation, case system (nominative, accusative, dative, genitive), word order, declensions, gender, and stylistic variation, and documenting every failure mode to improve model reasoning.
On a typical day, you will converse with the model on language scenarios, verify factual accuracy and logical soundness, capture reproducible error traces, and suggest improvements to prompt engineering and evaluation metrics.
Responsibilities Converse with the model on language scenarios in Yucateco, verify factual accuracy and logical soundness.
Capture reproducible error traces and document failure modes to strengthen model reasoning.




Suggest improvements to prompt engineering and evaluation metrics based on observed model behavior.
Document topics such as verb conjugation, case system, word order, declensions, gender, and stylistic variation as part of data collection and evaluation.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Yucateco language, linguistics, or a closely related field is idóneo, but native‐level fluency and deep practical understanding of the dialect are highly valued.
Extensive experience in teaching, translation, or community‐based linguistic projects can substitute for a formal degree.
Clear, metacognitive communication — showing your work — is essential.
Work Details Pay range: 6 to 65 USD per hour; final offer depends on experience, expertise, and geographic location.
