Purpose of Role:
Lead the Subsea, Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines (SURF) scope for the Kan development from definition through delivery, accountable for engineering, procurement, fabrication and installation outcomes.
Own the SURF interfaces with topsides, drilling and operations, ensuring integrated design and execution decisions across the project.
Manage the SURF contracting and supply chain strategy, working with Supply Chain and Contracts to deliver fit-for-purpose contracts and protect schedule and cost.
Lead the SURF discipline team, building capability and ensuring HSES, technical assurance and quality standards are met across all SURF activities.

Critical Responsibilities (MAE/MATTE/HSES*):




Ensure all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures.

Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:
Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required.

Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:
Engineering and Design Definition

Lead SURF concept selection, FEED and detailed engineering, ensuring design integrity, fit-for-purpose solutions and alignment with project objectives.
Define SURF scope, technical specifications and design basis, including subsea hardware, umbilicals, risers, flowlines and associated tie-in equipment.
Drive design optimisation across cost, schedule, operability and reliability, ensuring trade-offs are made transparently and documented.
Ensure technical assurance is in place across all SURF design deliverables, including peer review, HAZOP, HAZID and constructability reviews.

Contracting, Procurement and Fabrication

Develop and execute the SURF contracting strategy, working with Supply Chain to identify suitable contractors, structure tender packages and award contracts.
Oversee fabrication and manufacturing of SURF equipment at vendor yards, including quality assurance, expediting and progress monitoring.
Manage contractor performance against contract terms, schedule milestones and technical requirements, addressing deviations and enforcing remedial action where required.

Installation, Commissioning and Handover

Lead offshore installation campaigns for SURF equipment, working with Marine, T&I; contractors and the Operations team to deliver safe and on-schedule execution.
Oversee subsea commissioning, system integration testing and pre-commissioning activities, coordinating with topsides commissioning and drilling teams.




Manage handover of SURF systems to Operations, ensuring complete documentation, as-built drawings, spares and operations and maintenance procedures are in place.

People Management

Line-manage the SURF discipline team, prioritising workload, reviewing outputs and ensuring quality and timeliness of deliverables.
Coach team members through technical mentoring, on-the-job guidance and structured feedback, supporting career progression within the discipline.
Set individual objectives, conduct performance reviews and identify development priorities aligned with project and functional needs.

Critical Skills*, Qualifications, Experience, etc.:
Technical Skills

Strong technical expertise across SURF disciplines including subsea production systems, umbilicals, risers, flowlines and tie-in hardware.
Working knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (API, ISO, DNV) and Mexican regulatory requirements applicable to subsea developments.

Non-Technical Skills

Proven leadership and people management capability, with experience leading multidisciplinary teams in a project delivery environment.
Strong contractor management and commercial acumen, with experience structuring and managing complex EPC and EPCI contracts.

Professional Experience

Extensive experience delivering SURF scope on offshore developments, ideally including FEED through to commissioning and handover.
Demonstrable track record of delivering SURF projects on cost and schedule, with experience managing offshore installation campaigns.

Education

Engineering degree (mechanical, subsea, petroleum or equivalent) and chartered status (CEng or equivalent) preferred.

Language

English: Proficient (written and spoken).
Spanish: Intermediate or above.
