Overview
GENERAL PURPOSE: Responsible for supporting launch of new products by working in conjunction with Engineering and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities Work with internal and external partners toward a timely execution of prototypes Develop and manage new product designs from concept to mass production Develop detailed product specifications, drawings, BOMs, and coordinate with tooling as needed Maintain the highest level of craftsmanship and quality in the development and introduction of new products Create accurate engineering specification drawings with minimal direction Make modifications to existing CAD drawings to support manufacturing and purchasing maintenance Manage all CAD activities within a project Participate within cross-functional product development teams Set an example for others in attitude and high standards of quality and output Seek to improve technical and organizational skills through educational opportunities Coordinate with Quality to assure process capability Support existing production regarding day-to-day operations Support cost savings initiatives Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in industrial, mechanical, mechatronics, or related engineering field 5+ years of professional experience in product development Lean manufacturing experience (preferred) Experience in scrap reduction and cost improvement Advanced English communication skills (written and verbal) Experience designing and engineering plywood and solid wood upholstered chair frames and foam (preferred) 5 years of professional CAD experience with leading large CAD projects (CREO preferred)
Proven CNC wood programming experience Experience with textile CNC cutters (Gerber preferred) ECN and temporary deviation experience Experience developing, reverse engineering, and designing upholstered furniture Hands-on experience with frame construction, foam up, and upholstery Strong design and problem-solving skills with brand aesthetic Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams Proficiency with office software and familiarity with CAD systems used in the function High personal performance standards and a results-oriented mindset Excellent written and verbal communication and professional presentation skills Openness to new ideas and technologies to improve drafting and collaboration Ability to work cooperatively in a team or independently and maintain a positive attitude Self-starter with ownership mindset; professional representation of Miller Knoll willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required BIFMA knowledge is a plus Physical Demands
