Overview
GENERAL SUMMARY: Coordination, follow up and co-implementation of improvement projects to maximize the use of the company’s resources, seeking cost reduction and optimizing processes flow, including but not limited to: workforce optimization, line balancing, space optimization, layout designs, efficiency maximization, etc.
Responsibilities Support Managers by conducting and/or participating in Kaizen events to assess and eliminate waste and non-value-added activities (such as 3 P Events, SMED, Line Balancing, Standard Lean Event, etc.). Develop continuous improvement initiatives to reduce inventory, work in process (WIP), raw materials, and finished goods without affecting customer delivery or decrease in volume. Plan, coordinate and manage capacity planning to ensure continuous rapid improvements as measured by on time delivery, cycle time, inventory days on hand, inventory accuracy and cost. Interface with Operations, Purchasing, Materials, Engineering, Commercial and Supply base teams to obtain support in implementation, project support, line balancing, lean packaging, logistics, material flow, inventory planning and control focusing on total cost benefits. Support operations to meet lean principles across the plant with all members of the multidisciplinary team. Manage a project at each stage: initiating the project, understanding business needs, engaging people from different parts of the business, planning, monitoring, controlling and closing a project. Track and upload savings on time each month – forecasts and actuals. Manage Process Audit site for 6 S audit schedule and corrective actions. Support month end activities such as Enter Proj Lean Savings, e MOS display, Race for Excellence (where applicable), CI Portal data. Support end of production activities and decommission of equipment. Ensure processes and product designs meet customer expectations and Cooper Standard financial targets. Analyze VCM & Plant Margin to develop actions to improve it.
Analyze Authorized Head Count based on production releases and identify efficiency opportunities (including BOM & Routings). Assist with containerization calculations. Promote and supervise proper use of system procedures and practices related to CI per the Quality IATF16949 administration system. Comply with ISO 14001 according to FTM-EHS-12; reference Matrix of Roles, Responsibility and Authority in CI. Participate in mandatory training sessions and follow internal guidelines, codes of conduct, security rules, cleanliness and hygienic requirements, and other policies and procedures. Promote and support the Employee Suggestion Program. Fulfill other functions assigned by the immediate supervisor and comply with FTM-EHS-12 Roles, Responsibility and Authority Matrix per ISO 14001/45001; adhere to adopted standards (e.g., IATF 16949). Qualifications Educational background: Bachelor’s degree. Fluent English (spoken and written) is required. Experience: Experience in automotive companies; experience managing improvement projects with financial results; experience with statistical process control and process optimization; familiarity with KT, 8 D problem-solving; strong project management, organizational, communication, and team skills. Knowledge: Process Flow, Ergonomics, CI Tools, Six Sigma, VSM (Value Stream Mapping), Layout. Lean Manufacturing tools (5 S, VSM, SMED, Error Proofing, Material Flow, JIT, 8 Wastes). 6 Sigma Green Belt or higher is a plus. Proficiency in MS Office, Statistical Calculator, Auto CAD, Solid Works. Skills and Abilities: Pro-active, teamwork, leadership, strong project management, organizational and communication skills; ability to develop and implement manufacturing layouts, processes, changes, equipment justifications and ergonomics evaluations; ability to analyze equipment and processes; ability to perform method and time studies.
