Deck Department – Cruise Ship Positions Positions: Deck Cadet | Deck Officer | Safety Officer | Staff Captain | Captain | Bosun

Position Overview We are recruiting Deck Department professionals for cruise ship operations , responsible for navigation, vessel safety, and overall deck management onboard.
These roles ensure safe vessel operation, compliance with international maritime regulations, and effective leadership of deck crew in a highly structured, safety-critical environment .

⚓ Key Responsibilities
Deck Officer (OOW / 3rd / 2nd Officer) Perform navigational watchkeeping duties on the bridge
Ensure safe navigation and route monitoring
Operate navigational equipment (ECDIS, radar, GPS)
Participate in safety drills and emergency response
Maintain logs and ensure compliance with maritime regulations
Safety Officer Oversee all onboard safety procedures and compliance
Conduct safety inspections, drills, and training
Ensure compliance with SOLAS, ISM, and ISPS regulations
Investigate incidents and maintain safety documentation
Promote a strong safety culture onboard
Bosun Supervise deck ratings and daily deck operations
Coordinate maintenance of deck areas and equipment
Manage mooring, anchoring, and deck tasks
Ensure safety procedures are followed during operations
Staff Captain Second-in-command of the vessel
Oversee all deck operations and safety procedures
Supervise officers and ensure compliance with regulations
Coordinate emergency response and drills
Support the Captain in overall vessel management
Captain (Master) Overall command of the vessel
Responsible for safe navigation, crew management, and compliance
Ensure adherence to international maritime laws and company policies
Lead emergency response and decision-making
Represent the company and ensure guest and crew safety at all times

Work Environment Cruise ships (international operations)
Safety-critical and highly regulated environment
Multicultural crew and structured hierarchy

Working Conditions Rotational contracts
Long working hours, including watch schedules
High-responsibility roles with emergency duties




Exposure to varying sea and weather conditions

Required Documents CV in English (Harvard format)
Valid passport
Seafarer documentation (Seaman’s Book)

Certifications (STCW & Maritime Requirements) Depending on role, candidates must hold valid certifications such as:
STCW Basic Safety Training (mandatory for all)
Officer of the Watch (OOW) Certificate of Competency
GMDSS Certificate
ECDIS Certification
Advanced Fire Fighting
Proficiency in Survival Craft & Rescue Boats (PSCRB)
Medical Certificate (Seafarer Medical)
Senior roles may also require:
Chief Mate / Master Unlimited License
Ship Security Officer (SSO)
Crowd Management & Crisis Management Certifications

️ Language English: B2 – C1 required
Strong communication for safety, operations, and leadership

Requirements:

Eligibility Minimum age: 18+
Valid seafarer profile and ability to work at sea
Experience Deck Cadet
Maritime academy student or graduate
Sea-time training required or in progress
Deck Officer (OOW / 3rd / 2nd Officer)




Valid Officer of the Watch license
Minimum 1–3 years sea-time experience as officer
Safety Officer
Minimum 2–4 years experience onboard cruise ships or similar vessels
Experience in safety, compliance, and inspections
Bosun
Minimum 3–5 years experience in deck operations
Previous leadership of deck ratings required
Staff Captain
Minimum 5–10+ years progressive experience onboard
Previous experience as Senior Deck Officer / Chief Officer
Captain (Master)
Minimum 10–15+ years experience in maritime operations
Proven experience as Chief Officer / Staff Captain
Ship Experience ⚠️ Mandatory for all roles except Cadet
Cruise ship experience strongly preferred for all senior roles
Certifications (Mandatory) Depending on role, candidates must hold valid:
STCW Basic Safety Training
Seafarer Medical Certificate
Seaman’s Book / Discharge Book
Officers & Above Officer of the Watch (OOW) Certificate of Competency
GMDSS Certificate
ECDIS Certification
Advanced Fire Fighting (AFF)
Proficiency in Survival Craft & Rescue Boats (PSCRB)
Senior Leadership Roles Chief Mate / Master Unlimited License
Ship Security Officer (SSO)
Crowd Management & Crisis Management Certifications
Skills Strong knowledge of navigation and maritime operations
Understanding of:
SOLAS, ISM, ISPS regulations
Leadership and team management (senior roles)
Decision-making under pressure
Safety-first mindset and emergency response capability
Language English: B2 – C1 required
General Requirements CV in English (Harvard format), updated with no gaps
Minimum 2 verifiable reference letters
Valid passport
Availability to work:
Rotational contracts
Long hours and watch schedules
