Work Environment
Our positions in Monterrey are hybrid roles: 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. Office designed for collaboration with Scrum teams, includes city view, coffee, and occasional happy hour.
Position Summary
QA Engineer focused on manual testing practices. Part of cross-functional team delivering high-quality web and mobile applications. Responsibilities: test planning, execution, defect validation, exploratory testing, test strategy support for automation coverage. Ownership of stability and reliability of each release.
Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities
- Participate in Agile ceremonies such as stand-ups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Write and maintain clear, comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test data to support feature and regression testing.
- Ensure test cases are prioritized and traceable to requirements, acceptance criteria, or user stories.
- Own and execute test activities for assigned releases, covering new feature validation, regression, and exploratory testing.
- Collaborate with Product to understand acceptance criteria and identify areas requiring deeper test coverage.
- Work with Developers to triage, reproduce, and troubleshoot issues.
- Document and track bugs clearly using Jira or a similar defect management tool.
- Share observations that could help refine quality practices or streamline testing.
- Partner with automation engineers to prioritize and delegate which tests should be added to automation suites.
- Stay current with QA best practices and contribute to internal QA process evolution.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, ideally within Agile teams.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, QA methodologies, and the role of QA in modern product delivery.
- Proficiency in writing and executing test plans, test cases, and test data.
- Familiarity with test management tools (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr) and bug tracking systems (e.g., Jira).
- Experience validating web and/or mobile applications, including regression and cross-platform testing.
- Comfortable working in cross-functional teams with Product, Development, and Automation Engineering.
- Effective communicator, both verbal and written; able to clearly document issues and advocate for quality.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities across multiple features or sprints.
- Curious and detail-oriented, with the ability to spot edge cases or test gaps that may not be immediately visible.
- Advanced English is a must.
