position summary
the business development manager is a pivotal role responsible for accelerating the growth of biotek's regional business. This position requires a dual focus: nurturing and expanding relationships with our existing distributor network while proactively identifying and onboarding new strategic partners (if required). A key component is to serve as the ambassador of biotek, engaging directly with key opinion leaders (kols) and key accounts to build brand awareness, drive market penetration, and foster long-term business development. A critical strategic element of this role is to conduct ongoing market analysis to ensure biotek's product positioning remains relevant, differentiated, and effective against the competition.
key responsibilities
1. Strategic market & competitive analysis:
- conduct continuous analysis of the competitive landscape, including competitor strategies, product launches, pricing, and market share.
- monitor regulatory changes, healthcare policies, and economic trends within the region that may impact business.
- synthesize market data, customer feedback,
and competitive intelligence to provide actionable insights to senior management.
- use market insights to identify potential threats and opportunities for biotek's product portfolio.
2. Product positioning & strategy:
- in collaboration with the product management/portfolio managers, develop and execute compelling product positioning and messaging strategy that differentiates biotek solutions in the region.
- tailor global marketing and value proposition materials to resonate with the specific needs and dynamics of the regional market.
- ensure all distributors, kols, and key accounts clearly understand and can articulate biotek's unique value proposition.
- provide feedback product management on regional market needs to influence future product development.
3. Distributor management & growth:
- serve as the primary point of contact and support for the existing distributor network.
- develop and execute joint business plans that incorporate strategic product positioning and competitive counter-strategies.
- provide ongoing training, not only on products but also on competitive advantages and effective sales tactics to win against key competitors.
4. New partner acquisition:
- identify, evaluate, and recruit new distribution partners to fill geographic or segment gaps, ensuring they have the capability to effectively position biotek against competitors.
5. Kol & key account engagement:
- build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key opinion leaders (kols), surgeons, and key hospital accounts.
- leverage kol relationships to validate product positioning and gather advanced insights on clinical trends and competitor activities.
- organize educational events and workshops that highlight biotek's competitive advantages and clinical differentiators.
- be present and support national and international conferences, strengthen biotek’s brand positioning and equity.
