The Account Manager serves as the primary strategic and operational contact for key customers utilizing Freight Forwarding (Air, Ocean, Land) and Transportation Management services.Responsible for maintaining and developing long-term relationships, ensuring global supply chain execution meets strict KPIs, managing carrier/vendor performance, and identifying organic growth opportunities within existing accounts.ResponsibilitiesClient Relationship Management: Manage day-to-day communication with assigned international and domestic cargo accounts to ensure operational excellence and high customer satisfaction.Operational Coordination: Partner with ocean/air import-export operations, customs brokerage, domestic dispatch, and carrier management teams to ensure seamless end-to-end execution.Performance Monitoring: Analyze transit times, container utilization, carrier performance, and lane costs to prepare reports and lead Regular Business Reviews (RBRs/QBRs) with clients.Issue Resolution: Act as the main escalation point for critical supply chain disruptions, customs delays, port congestion, or carrier roll-overs to maintain service continuity.Strategic Growth: Develop strategic account plans to drive retention, optimize client route networks, and drive organic growth through upselling additional trade lanes or premium services.Financial & Contract Management: Support freight rate benchmarking, seasonal tender reviews,
spot-quote approvals, and contract renewal negotiations.Market Compliance: Ensure alignment between client shipping requirements and global trade compliance regulations, including local SAT/customs mandates in Mexico.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in international Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.Experience: 3–5 years of experience in account management, customer service, or logistics operations specifically within a Freight Forwarding or 3PL environment.Skills: Strong understanding of multi-modal transport (Air, Ocean, FTL, LTL) and international shipping documentation (Incoterms, Bill of Lading, AWB, Pedimentos).
Capabilities: Excellent negotiation, communication, and crisis-management skills with the ability to manage complex integral accounts simultaneously.Tools: High proficiency in MS Excel (for data analysis and freight cost modeling) and PowerPoint.Languages: Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken) is mandatory for managing global stakeholders.Preferred SkillsIndustry Network: Established familiarity with customs brokers, port operations (e.g., Manzanillo, Lázaro Cárdenas), major shipping lines/airlines, and key carriers.Certifications: Certifications in International Trade or Supply Chain (e.g., APICS).
