On behalf of Huawei, we are looking for a Tax Manager to join our team.
The Tax Manager is responsible for leading the company's tax risk management, tax controversy, and tax planning initiatives. This role serves as the primary point of contact with tax authorities and external advisors, ensuring compliance with applicable tax regulations while supporting the organization's business objectives.
The position oversees tax audits, tax refund processes, and tax advisory activities, providing technical guidance to internal stakeholders and helping manage tax risks across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the company's tax controversy strategy, including tax audits, information requests, invitation letters, and internal tax reviews.
Coordinate the preparation, review, and submission of responses to tax authorities, including administrative appeals and related procedures.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with tax authorities, external advisors, and internal stakeholders.
Assess tax risks and provide technical guidance on corporate income tax, VAT, and other applicable taxes.
Oversee tax refund processes and ensure timely responses to tax authority inquiries.
Develop and implement strategies to mitigate tax risks while ensuring compliance with applicable tax regulations.
Provide tax advisory support to business units regarding new initiatives, transactions, and operational matters.
Monitor changes in tax legislation and evaluate their potential impact on the organization.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business operations from a tax perspective.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Taxation, Accounting, Law, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
Wide experience in corporate taxation and/or public tax consulting, with progressively increasing levels of responsibility.
Experience managing tax audits, tax controversy matters, and interactions with tax authorities.
Experience supporting multinational organizations and/or professional services firms is preferred.
Experience coordinating external tax advisors is preferred.
Technical Knowledge
Strong knowledge of the Mexican tax framework, including the Federal Tax Code, Income Tax Law, VAT Law, and other applicable tax regulations.
Understanding of tax audit procedures and tax authority practices.
Knowledge of tax controversy mechanisms, including administrative appeals, tax litigation, and related proceedings.
Familiarity with VAT refund procedures, tax assessments, penalties, and dispute resolution.
Knowledge of tax compliance requirements, including electronic invoicing, statutory filings, and informative returns.
Ability to interpret tax legislation, administrative guidance, and relevant case law.
