Overview:
SSOE is seeking a motivated Junior Electrical Designer – Data, Fire & Security Systems to join our Advanced Technology Strategic Business Unit. This role is an exciting opportunity for an early-career designer to contribute to the design of complex, technology-driven facilities while developing expertise in low-voltage systems, including structured cabling/data, fire alarm, and security systems.
Working alongside senior designers and engineers, you will use ACAD/Revit to convert engineering concepts, markups, and project requirements into accurate, coordinated design deliverables. You will receive hands-on guidance and mentorship while building a strong foundation in system design, applicable codes, multidisciplinary coordination, and quality-focused project execution.

Responsibilities:
The following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing. Responsibilities include those required to deliver quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment.

Works on markups provided by higher-level designers and engineers, using Revit to develop and revise data, fire alarm, and security system design documents.
- Applies design fundamentals to total systems or subsystems, including structured cabling, telecommunications/data pathways, fire alarm devices, access control, CCTV, and related low-voltage infrastructure, as applicable to the project.
- Performs a variety of routine design assignments, with increasing responsibility, under the direction of Senior Designers or Senior Engineers.
- Supports the preparation of design deliverables, which may include floor plans, device layouts, pathway plans, riser diagrams, details, schedules, and installation documentation.
- Works from both own designs and designs of others; compiles data and performs routine design computations to support engineering and project requirements.
- Coordinates assigned work with electrical, architectural, mechanical, structural, and other project disciplines to help identify and resolve design conflicts.
- Incorporates review comments, redlines, and revisions accurately and promptly.
- Reviews work for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and alignment with project standards before submitting it for review.
- Works under close supervision, with work effort frequently checked during progress and reviewed upon completion.
- Maintains working knowledge of applicable discipline codes and standards and studies non-routine code issues with guidance from senior team members.
- Assists with identifying and solving design problems but is expected to seek assistance from more experienced designers and engineers when needed.
- Maintains organized project files and supports documentation, coordination, and quality-control activities throughout the design process.
- Participates in project coordination meetings, design reviews, and internal training opportunities as assigned.
Qualifications:
What You Will Bring:
- High school diploma required.
- Desirable Engineering bachelor´s degree. (Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical, Renewable Energy Engineering or any related).
- Six months to three years of relevant experience in electrical design, low-voltage systems design, drafting, BIM modeling, or a related technical discipline. Relevant internship, co-op, or academic project experience may be considered.
- Prior experience as Electrical designer focused on Instrumentation and controls electrical design
- Experience with Low and Medium voltage building systems (facilities).
- Basic understanding of electrical design and/or low-voltage building systems, such as structured cabling, fire alarm, access control, video surveillance, or CCTV systems.
- AutoCAD prior experience.
- Advanced English. Will report to US
Desirable Skills:
- Prior Revit Experience
- Prior Revit Training
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards—such as NFPA, NEC, building codes, and relevant fire alarm, security, and telecommunications standards—is preferred; willingness to learn is essential
