Job Description

Forecasting electricity prices using large-scale datasets & optimization models.

Mathematical & Statistical Modeling:

- Develop mathematical optimization models used to forecast electricity prices, power demand, and market trends.

Data Engineering & Pipeline Development:

- Build and manage data pipelines that clean, standardize, and integrate diverse datasets (fuel prices, renewable generation, grid data, and demand forecasts).
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and real-time availability for decision-making.

Performance Monitoring & Model Improvement:

- Compare model predictions against actual market outcomes, identify discrepancies, and refine algorithms.
- Continuously enhance forecasting accuracy and trading strategies based on data-driven insights.

Candidate Requirements

- BSc or MS in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Computer Science. PhD is a plus.
- Skilled in Python/SQL; GAMS/Pyomo/Gurobi a plus.
- Strong analytical skills; solves complex energy problems with data, models, and independent thinking
- Energy market knowledge a plus; US/Mexico wholesale market experience is a strong advantage.
