Summary:
Daikin Applied Americas is seeking a Senior Power BI / Data Visualization Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable, production‐grade data visualization solutions and datasets.
This role focuses on delivering high-quality data experiences built on trusted data assets within the Databricks platform.
This role operates as part of a unified data platform team, working in close alignment with data engineering, data product owners, and analytics teams to deliver cohesive, scalable, and high-quality data products.
You will collaborate with cross‐functional partners to translate business requirements into intuitive, performant, and reliable data experiences while ensuring alignment with data models and logic defined within Databricks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, build, and operate scalable, production‐grade data visualization solutions and Power BI datasets
Design data experiences that emphasize usability, clarity, and intuitive exploration of data
Build datasets and visualization‐layer transformations that consume and extend data structures defined in Databricks
Collaborate with data engineering teams to define appropriate placement of logic between Databricks and visualization layers
Own visualization solutions end‐to‐end in production, including design, development, deployment,
monitoring, incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement
Design solutions that support large‐scale, high‐volume data consumption with a focus on performance and reliability
Maintain a strong hands‐on focus in building and optimizing dashboards and reports
Lead technical decisions for visualization approaches, balancing usability, performance, and scalability
Collaborate with data engineers, product managers, analysts, and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable visualization designs
Ensure consistent and well‐defined business metrics across visualization and data layers
Optimize Power BI datasets, dashboards, and queries for performance and cost efficiency
Implement monitoring and observability practices for visualization usage and performance
Design and implement testing and validation practices, ensuring data accuracy and integrity
Diagnose and resolve complex issues across data platform and visualization layers
Review, triage, and resolve incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing durable fixes
Ensure data assets are discoverable, well‐documented, and organized
Implement governance (RLS, workspace management, access controls)
Contribute to the evolution of the data visualization and analytics platform
Evaluate and recommend appropriate BI and data exploration tools based on use case
Stay current with advancements in Power BI, Databricks AI/BI, Genie, and emerging tools
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
5+ years Demonstrated experience working with large datasets and translating raw data into visually meaningful insights for decision‐makers.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities ·
Strong hands‐on experience building high‐quality Power BI dashboards, reports, and datasets
Strong understanding of how Databricks data models support downstream visualization
Experience working with Databricks and integrating with BI tools
Proven ability to make decisions on data logic placement in collaboration with data engineering
Strong understanding of performance optimization techniques within Power BI ·
Experience with SQL, Power Query (M), and data transformation techniques
Strong troubleshooting skills across data and visualization layers
Strong communication skills and ability to translate business requirements into visualization solutions
Demonstrated ability to evaluate and make tradeoffs across usability, performance, scalability, and delivery
Strong bias toward execution and delivery with ability to move from concept to production quickly
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with Databricks AI/BI capabilities such as Genie
Experience with modern BI tools such as Sigma Computing
Experience enabling self‐service analytics using trusted data assets · Knowledge of data governance, security, and access management
Experience working in Agile, product‐oriented teams
Experience in enterprise‐scale environments
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts for BI environments
Relevant Power BI, Azure, or data certifications
Azure DevOps experience for work tracking
