Reporting to the Application Engineering Manager, the CAD Designer & FEA Specialist creates and maintains 3D models, 2D drawings, and finite element analysis (FEA) models for rubber-molded sealing products developed by Hutchinson PSS North America.
We are 40 000 men and women who meet the challenges faced by our automotive, aviation, defence and industry customers every day. Our passion for challenge and our enthusiasm encourage us to imagine, design and produce high performance and innovative fluid, sealing system and anti-vibration solutions. Working at Hutchinson means being curious about everything, contributing to the evolution of mobility and reducing carbon emissions.

A French company with an international presence (25 countries): 170 years of history and passing on our know-how.
5 billion in turnover, with 5% invested in R&D.;
· Create robust 3D models and fully detailed 2D drawings for elastomeric sealing components using SolidWorks (expert level); CATIA experience is a plus.
· Apply Hutchinson dimension rules and internal dimensioning tools to all drawings; ensure consistency with drawing templates, title blocks, and revision practices.
· Interpret and apply ISO/ASME GD&T; to elastomeric parts and mating interfaces; perform basic tolerance stack‑ups for functional fit.
· Translate customer specifications (cleanliness, materials, tolerances, packaging) into clear, manufacturable drawings; incorporate constraints from the customer mating components.
· Generate and maintain CAD for RFQs, prototypes, DV/PV builds, and production release; publish neutral formats (STEP/IGES) as required.
· Support Engineering Change Requests (ECR/ECO): update 3D/2D, manage revision control, and maintain traceability across released items.
· Provide CAD datasets to tooling, process engineering,
and suppliers; review manufacturability (DFM) and provide section cuts and details when required.
· Assist Application Engineering and Quality with APQP deliverables (ballooned drawings, dimensional results, gauge/fixture concepts, control plan inputs).
· Support PPAP submissions by ensuring drawing completeness and linkage to DFMEA/Process Flow/Control Plan; maintain checklists and release records.
· Participate in design reviews; capture minutes and action items related to CAD deliverables; close actions on time.
EXPERIENCE
Technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, CAD Technology, or equivalent. Experience in CAD design, CAE simulation and product development preferred. Experience with elastomer products, sealing systems or automotive applications strongly desired.
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS
· Expert proficiency in SolidWorks; surfacing, configurations, and drafting standards; CATIA experience is a plus.
· Working knowledge of elastomer materials (e.g., EPDM, NBR, FKM, Silicone) and rubber molding processes (compression, transfer, injection) is preferred.
· Understanding of sealing system design constraints (compression set, squeeze, interference, groove design, surface finish).
· Ability to apply GD&T; per ASME Y14.5 or ISO 1101 on drawings, with basic tolerance analysis.
· Familiarity with dimensional tolerance standards for rubber parts, e.g., ISO 3302‑1:2014 (moulded/extruded/calendared products) when applicable.
· Familiarity with APQP/PPAP elements and document control in an IATF 16949 environment (DFMEA linkage, dimensional results, MSA inputs).
· Experience with Abaqus, Ansys, HyperWorks, OptiStruct, Nastran or equivalent. Understanding of hyperelastic materials, contact mechanics, nonlinear analysis, fatigue, durability and sealing system behavior.
