UI Engineering Manager Location: Atlanta, Indianapolis, Guadalajara Opportunity As a UI Engineering-focused Manager, you will help UI Engineers develop their career plans, assign project work tailored to their skill set, and manage processes and metrics for a team that supports impactful software. You will make a difference by leading a team of 3-8 direct reports, conducting regular 1:1s and quarterly reviews, guiding promotion processes, managing performance improvement plans, and participating in recruiting and onboarding. You’ll also assist with customer escalations and support critical initiatives across the organization.
Responsibilities - Lead and manage a team of 3-8 UI Engineers.
- Conduct weekly or at least twice a month 1:1 meetings, provide feedback, mentor, coach, and support career growth.
- Carry out quarterly performance reviews and collaborate with other managers on cross‑team matters.
- Guide team members through promotion processes and create performance improvement plans when necessary.
- Participate in recruiting, hiring and onboarding of UI Engineers; provide input for merit increases.
- Assist with customer escalations, driving urgency and supporting response teams.
- Support one or more departmental or UI‑specific initiatives to improve processes and metrics.
- Lead or co‑lead development teams, setting expectations, managing timelines, and adjusting priorities in a cross‑functional environment.
Qualifications - 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Previous people management experience.
- Experience in UI engineering/front‑end development.
- Experience with agile software development.
- Ability to establish strategic relationships quickly.
- Strong analytical skills to identify root causes of customer requests and action solutions.
- Collaborative, solutions‑focused mindset.
Onboarding and Success Metrics Within one month:
- Attend SalesLoft New Hire Orientation and Engineering Department orientation.
- Begin 1:1s with manager and team members, understand 30‑60‑90 plan and career goals.
- Meet key stakeholders in departments that collaborate with UI Engineering.
- Participate in hiring of UI Engineers and attend team/leadership meetings.
- Shadow another Engineering Manager on a delivery team.
Within three months
- Set OKRs with manager and develop action plan.
- Identify and report UI Engineering metrics weekly.
- Help direct reports advance career plans.
- Manage hiring to staff the UI Engineering team and conduct fair/equitable interviews.
- Represent UI Engineering in the broader Engineering Management team.
- Take leadership role on your own delivery team.
Within six months
- Contribute at 100%, acting as voice for front‑end development.
- Build relationships with Product Development teams.
- Recommend process improvements.
- Revamp UI Engineering onboarding.
- Manage backlog of projects outside delivery teams.
- Introduce community outreach or recruiting ideas.
