Eastern Time About Our
Company
Innovum is recruiting on behalf of our client, a real estate technology company building a modern data and workflow platform for the residential real estate industry.
Our client brings property search, listing management, market analytics, reporting, administrative tools, and client collaboration into a unified web and mobile experience. The platform serves Multiple Listing Service organizations, brokerages, real estate agents, and their clients across the United States. Our client product handles complex property data, market-specific listing workflows, AI-assisted search, role-based experiences, and integrations with other real estate technology systems.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer with strong, recent production experience using Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, and React. You will own customer-facing features from product discovery and technical design through implementation, testing, release, monitoring, and iteration. You will work on data-intensive workflows used by real estate professionals to search properties, manage listings, analyze market information, collaborate with clients, and make time-sensitive business decisions.
This role requires someone who can contribute across the full stack, make sound architectural decisions, communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders, and deliver reliable software in a growing SaaS environment. What You’ll Do
Own the end-to-end delivery of important product features, from initial discovery and technical planning through production release and post-launch improvement.
Build and maintain backend services, data models, APIs, and business logic using Ruby on Rails.
Develop responsive, accessible, and maintainable user experiences using TypeScript and React.
Translate complex real estate workflows into intuitive product experiences for MLS administrators, brokerages, agents, and their clients.
Design and optimize relational data models, database queries, search indexes, and API interactions for data-intensive features.
Work with property and listing data where search accuracy, data quality, permissions, auditability, and performance are critical.
Integrate external data sources and third-party services while maintaining reliable synchronization, validation, error handling, and monitoring.
Learn existing customer workflows and evolve the architecture without disrupting the service relied upon by current users.
Improve application performance, scalability, reliability, security,
and observability across the platform.
Write and maintain automated backend, frontend, integration, and end-to-end tests.
Participate actively in architecture discussions, technical planning, code reviews, incident analysis, and controlled release processes.
Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Customer Success, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements, identify risks, and define realistic delivery plans.
Provide practical technical guidance and mentorship to less-experienced engineers.
Balance planned roadmap commitments with production issues and urgent customer needs while clearly communicating priorities and tradeoffs.
Required
Qualifications
5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 4 years of recent hands-on production experience with Ruby on Rails and TypeScript/React.
Strong knowledge of Ruby, Rails, TypeScript, React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Experience building and maintaining production-grade SaaS applications across both backend and frontend systems.
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, software design principles, separation of concerns, and maintainable application architecture.
Solid experience with relational databases, SQL, schema design, data migrations, indexing, query optimization, and transactional data.
Experience designing, consuming, documenting, and maintaining REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
Understanding of authentication, authorization, role-based access control, data privacy, and secure application development.
Experience writing automated tests using tools such as RSpec, Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright, or equivalent technologies.
Familiarity with continuous integration, continuous delivery, feature flags, code review workflows, and controlled production releases.
Experience diagnosing and resolving complex production issues across application code, APIs, databases, and frontend systems.
Proficiency with Git and collaborative pull-request-based development.
Demonstrated ability to take ownership of ambiguous problems and move them from initial definition to a reliable production solution.
Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude, Codex, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools, with the ability to review, test,
and validate generated work.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating closely with a distributed U.S.-based team.
Preferred
Qualifications
Experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch, including indexing strategies, search relevance, filtering, aggregations, and performance optimization.
Experience deploying or maintaining applications using AWS services.
Familiarity with PostgreSQL or another production relational database.
Experience with asynchronous processing, background job systems, queues, caching, or technologies such as Sidekiq and Redis.
Familiarity with Docker, containerized development, and modern cloud deployment practices.
Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog, New Relic, Sentry, CloudWatch, or similar tools.
Experience working on multi-tenant B2B SaaS products with complex roles, permissions, configurations, or enterprise integrations.
Experience building high-volume search, analytics, reporting, or data-management products.
Experience with geospatial data, mapping systems, address normalization, location-based search, or property data.
Previous experience in PropTech, residential real estate, MLS technology, property-data platforms, or real estate analytics.
Familiarity with MLS data feeds, RESO standards, listing lifecycle rules, brokerage workflows, or real estate industry integrations.
Experience contributing to architecture modernization while maintaining compatibility with established customer workflows.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Who You
Are
You are a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving product and technical problems, not just completing assigned tickets.
You care about the experience of the real estate professionals who depend on the platform every day.
You are curious, collaborative, low-ego, outcome-oriented, and comfortable giving and receiving constructive feedback.
You communicate risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs early rather than waiting until a deadline is at risk.
You are comfortable working in an evolving product environment where customer feedback and market-specific requirements influence priorities.
You value code quality and thoughtful architecture, while understanding when a pragmatic solution is the right business decision.
These characteristics also align with Perchwell’s stated culture of active collaboration, customer focus, curiosity, low ego, outcome orientation, and bias toward action.
