Astellas’ Global Capability Centres – Overview
Astellas’ Global Capability Centres are strategically located sites that give Astellas the ability to access talent across various functions in the value chain and co-locate core capabilities.
The GCCs will enhance operational efficiency, resilience, and innovation potential, enabling a timely response to changing business demands.
Purpose and Scope:
This position ensures that North America Affiliates and Legal Entities’ historical financial records are prepared in accordance with statutory, regulatory, and group reporting requirements.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Oversee statutory statement preparation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS and local GAAP.
- Responsible for local provision of statutory statistics data to local regulatory authorities.
- Calculate key finance deliverables such as local Sales Bonus Accruals, Rebate reconciliation, Transfer Pricing, and Dividend payments.
- Manage timely book closing for the affiliate in collaboration with Integral Capability Centre and Business Process Outsourcer.
- Primary liaison for any local statutory and tax audits, ensuring compliance and timely resolution of audit matters.
- Prepare and oversee local J-SOX controls, maintaining strong governance frameworks.
- Oversight of Transfer Price contracts in liaison with the Intercompany and Inventory Controller.
- Manage historical accounting records,
ensuring data integrity and accessibility utilizing global tools and processes.
- Key contact for business functions, providing financial insight and advice and ensuring alignment with the Global Accounting and Operational Finance Practice.
- Supervision of other activities performed specifically for the Affiliates and legal entities in North America.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent relevant subject.
- ACA / or ACCA / or CPA and / or equivalent accounting qualification or experience.
- English and Spanish language expert level in speaking and writing.
Experience:
- Proven relevant experience in financial reporting, statutory compliance, and controlling in a senior leadership role, for US entities.
- Track record in managing audits and working with external auditors and tax authorities.
- Prior experience in a multinational environment and matrix organization preferred.
- Familiarity with Shared Service or Global Capability Centre collaboration models.
Technical Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and awareness of local GAAP variations.
- Solid understanding of internal controls, J-SOX/SOX frameworks, and finance governance.
- Advanced knowledge of transfer pricing, intercompany transactions, and corporate tax matters.
Systems and Tools:
- Proficiency in ERP systems (such as SAP) and exposure to financial consolidation tools.
- Experience with Power BI or similar tools is a plus.
