Coordinates project planning, staffing, progress reporting, people management and troubleshooting for engineering projects. Ensures project results meet requirements regarding technical quality, reliability, schedule and cost. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Leads the implementation of complex and/or large engineering projects, understanding and driving regulatory and compliance certifications as appropriate (e.g., ISO9000, ISO14000, AS9100, TUV), including those applicable to SMT manufacturing environments . Participates and may lead product or manufacturing development meetings, making recommendations for change, with emphasis on SMT process optimization and new product introduction (NPI) . In conjunction with project teams, implements best practices for equipment and manufacturing layout for maximum efficiency and cycle time optimization, including SMT lines (printer, pick & place, reflow, AOI, SPI) . Leads complex projects relating to new technical developments and processes, including SMT process development, transfer, and validation . Controls project budget. Provides engineered solutions to complex equipment problems, including troubleshooting of SMT equipment and processes . Delivers quotes for projects including new equipment costs, labor, maintenance costs, etc., such as SMT equipment and tooling . Drives continuous improvement and optimization utilizing proactive methodologies and trend analysis, focused on yield, quality, and defects reduction in SMT processes . Assesses the adequacy of data gathering methods utilized by the teams, including SMT process metrics and SPC data . During project implementation, leads the preparation,
monitoring and evaluation of equipment set-ups, manufacturing layout, and process changes and/or corrective actions, particularly for SMT production lines . Assesses manufacturing and engineering capabilities; identifying and suggesting solutions for any immediate need or enhancements, including SMT capacity and capability gaps . Provides ongoing direction and training on process development, root cause analysis and systematic problem solving, with emphasis on SMT-related defects and failure modes . Drives proactive participation with suppliers and (when possible) aids in their process improvement efforts, especially SMT component, stencil, and equipment suppliers . Interfaces and provides technical support on quality issues with customers as needed, including SMT-related quality concerns . Assists Design Engineers with Design for Manufacture issues, including Design for SMT (DFSM) guidelines . JOB QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS Knowledge of Jabil operating policies and procedures required. Knowledge and experience of engineering in a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of SMT processes, equipment, materials, and best practices (e.g., solder paste printing, pick & place, reflow profiling, AOI, SPI, rework/repair). Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and Power Point) and e-mail skills required. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline required. Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification preferred. Minimum 6–8 years work-related experience required in engineering or project management related discipline, preferably in an SMT or electronics manufacturing environment . Or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. #J-18808-Ljbffr
